Another year in the books. Another strong musical year IMO. No standout clear-cut AOTY for me like the past two years (Purple Mountains in 2019 and Hum in 2020), but a very deep year with at least 25+ albums I really enjoyed.

Ten favorites (with a favorite track linked):

1. The World is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die- Illusory Walls Infinite Josh
2. The War on Drugs- I Don't Live Here Anymore I Don't Live Here Anymore
3. Fiddlehead- Between the Richness The Years
4. Sufjan Stevens/Angelo De Augustine- A Beginner's Mind Back to Oz
5. Home Is Where- I Became Birds The Scientific Classification of Stingrays
6. Squid- Bright Green Field Narrator
7. Mdou Moctor- Afrique Victime Afrique Victime
8. Tonstartsbandht- Petunia What Has Happened
9. Matt Sweeney/Bonnie Prince Billy- Superwolves Good to My Girls
10. Parannoul- To See the Next Part of the Dream Youth Rebellion

Ten honorable mentions:

Big Red Machine- How Long Do You Think It's Going to Last
Deafheaven- Inifinte Granite
Foxing- Draw Down the Moon
Indigo De Souza- Any Shape You Take
The Killers- Pressure Machine
Manchester Orchestra- The Million Masks of God
The Reds, Pinks and Purples- Uncommon Weather
Spencer Krug- Fading Graffiti
Turnstile- Glow On
Wild Pink- A Billion Little Lights

I've never heard of any of those bands.
I'm going with BLS's and Chevelle's new album.

Weezer’s OK Human is AOTY for me. Van Weezer was also very solid.

I enjoyed the Sufjan album.

ETA I forgot Killers Pressure Machine. Tied for AOTY for me.

I really like your song for #1. Why over fifteen minutes, though?

That the world is a beautiful place album is something else. Loved it.

WOD was good but obviously not on the level of lost in the dream.

Sufjan album was great.

Otherwise I have a lot of stuff to catch up on

The length of that one doesn’t bother me at all. That guitar, instrumental breakdown at the end could go on even longer for me. The next track on the album is 20 minutes. It’s great too, but on that one, I feel it could have been cut a little shorter. The rest of the album has more normal track lengths.

Based on Crutch, I just knew Band of Horses had a 2021 album. Turns out, it's 2022.

Should be in your top 10 and will likely win a Grammy.

interesting you and TFTC both had this album in your top ten ... at first listen I thought it was an Amadou and Mariam album (which to me is a really good thing)

dang, Jeff Rosenstock's Ska Dream didn't make Seaward's list.. does that mean you aren't going to Tips on Thursday??

also there's still 25 days left this year, why are people making lists so early when something amazing could just randomly drop

Mdou Moctar is the best guitar playing I’ve heard all year. Of all the albums I listed, I feel that album might have the most broad appeal amongst this board, assuming people didn’t mind the non-English lyrics.

I enjoyed it, but really just as well listen to No Dream. No, I won’t be there. This is actually the first I hear of him playing there.
