Here's the thing. If you take the clear definition of irony (contrast/gap between expectation and reality), then each one of her lines could possibly be argued as being ironic. Alternatively you could think on the scenario she presented and find irony in it.
Lyrics to songs have almost always required critical thought and/or expansion of the song's topic beyond just the words recited.
Add to it a banger of a melody, and this just isn't a song that should be nitpicked or bashed, especially when examined within the context of current popular music.

One could say that made the song even more ironic than it ever could have been otherwise.

There are some that become maybe's, but going by the strict definition there are still quite a few that are hard no's.
A fly in your expensive drink is not ironic. That's just unfortunate. Rain is rain, doesn't matter if it's on your wedding day. Not taking good advice is a common occurrence. A traffic jam is kind of to be expected, it just sucks if you're already late.

I think you're taking it a little too serious. It was just a fun exercise, I wasn't bashing it. I mentioned twice it's a great song.

The biggest irony is that she writes a song about irony and herself not know what irony is.
What say you?
She's Canadian. They're wierdos.

Is it ironic she wrote a song called Ironic that isn't about irony at all?
Growing up we always figured that was the point.

Sorry it came off as I was taking it too seriously. This is just a common gripe. I think most of us who were around when the song came out have heard this parroted a lot.
Think about your examples, though. You bought an expensive glass of of Chardonnay expecting it to be delicious and take you troubles away, yet this glass of expensive wine now has a fly in it, is ruined, and now is a source of your troubles. Somewhat ironic?
Same scenario with the wedding day. It’s supposed to be the happiest day of the brides life, but because of the rain, it will likely be the worst up until that point. Ironic that the wedding day could be labeled as that considering what it was expected to be.
