I feel like CD's have been a dying music medium for well over a decade now and especially in the last few years. My vehicle doesn't even have a CD player in it and it's 3 years old.

Besides streaming, what tangible music medium are you purchasing if any?

New Vinyl records go for typically around $20 or more and older records for a little less.

For bands I really like i'll buy a vinyl of their record and it usually comes with a download card but I don't even use it because i'll just stream the record on my phone.

I could see in the next 7-10 years CD's being looked at like the 8-track or cassette.

Yes. If I'm going to pay for music then I want it in an uncompressed format. Or at least a lossless one. You're right though. It's a dying medium.

I mostly buy records because they come with the digital download, unless they are old ones. The only time I buy CD's is when they aren't worth the price of a record or I happen to see a good one in the $5 dollar bin at a store.

Rarely, but, when I’m able to drive, I like having a CD for the car so I can listen to an album format.
Digital is a good example of “a blessing and a curse”

No not really but I keep a couple in the car. The aux port in my vehicle is all jacked up so I can't listen to my ipod, which really sucks. So if I'm going on a long-ish drive and get bored of the radio I at least have some CDs to listen to.

Yes, Tool albums. As far as I know they don’t have digital? But maybe they changed that in the past few years.

Yes. I read through the liner notes on first listen. I have about 750 cds and as long as they still make them, I'll buy them.

Yes. Just had 4 of them delivered to the house yesterday. The majority of my music collection is on CD. One of these days I need to start ripping everything and creating some sort of music server but I've just been too lazy.

I've been doing that lately. It's a big project. All of my CDs are ripped to mp3 already but I've been archiving them in FLAC format so that I'll always have a pristine copy of them.

This - I rip to FLAC quite a bit, but Play Music and even Plex will compress it to MP3 to stream, although I think the front end Plex Media Player may support FLAC natively.

But, at least I can play it lossless via VLC or what have you if I choose.

Some amps support playing lossless files as well, but I'm kind of stuck with PC and TV set ups and have to put off my audiophile stuff for a couple more years.

I stopped buying CD's 10 years ago. I didn't see the point. I never played them. I decided that if I'm going to buy a physical medium, it would be vinyl, since it will hold value better, has bigger artwork, and will actually get played. And that's what I've done since then.

I haven't owned a CD player in probably10 years.
I loaded down a few external hard drives back in the whatcd days. I streamed everything from the hard drives to a media hub.
Still have the hard drives but mainly stream these days.

I still have buttloads of CDs and still buy them right alongside vinyl and downloads. Anything I think is really worthy of keeping permanently, I have on that format because digital seems like it will eventually get lost or thoughtlessly disposed of somehow. I'll pass my collection down to my kids after I'm gone and they may treasure it or they may trash it. But I'd like them to have the option. They're not going to comb through a hard drive.

No. I used to have a massive CD collection. I kept almost all of my CDs in my car. About 4 years ago I was in a car accident, my car was towed somewhere I don't remember, but all of my CDs were stolen at the shop it was towed to.

I was heartbroken. I had budgeted money to replace my CDs. But shortly after I discovered Apple Music and I was so relieved that I could retrieve my music collection.

Honestly though I would probably still buy them if that didn't happen.

If you kept most of your CDs in your car then you didn't have a massive CD collection.

I'm not listening to crappy mp3s. Show me another format that lets me listen to quality audio on my home stereo, my boom box, my car stereo, and my PC and I'll be all ears.

Occasionally. Only if it’s one of my favorite bands. I like to have the artwork and everything that comes in the booklet. Plus my car doesn’t have Bluetooth or anything like that.

Yes

...and I believe over the past 2 or 3 years, I've purchased more than I ever have. I just ordered 4 a few nights ago.
