My son loves 90s music and I generally can stand what he listens to. He likes the 90s "classsics". Also loves Modest Mouse and Neutral Milk Hotel which is cool.

My daughter heck no. She has every lyric of every pop song memorized. All of the manufactured junk that plays on the pop station. Not my thing. Only saving grace is she likes The XX, a little Mogwai, and Chumbawaumba.

Mine was into a Fallout Boy for awhile. He’s outgrown it thank goodness. Both of the kids like Adele.

And no matter what the song is (could be country or whatever) I ask them "is this Drake featuring Cardi B..?" Drives them nuts.

Yes, my son listens to great music...Louis Prima, John Lee Hooker, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, The Stooges, The Ramones, Nirvana...Basically Swing, Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock, Punk, Grunge, and 60's-90's Alternative. He's plays guitar in an original music band that ranges from Punk, Pop Punk, Grunge to Alt Rock. The prior bands he was in played covers in Jazz, R&B and Classic Rock.

eta: He has better taste in music than I do

Yes. My daughter actually filled in some gaps for me when I was stuck on an era or actually not interested that much in music. E.g. Talking heads, widespread panic. We are 40 years apart and listen to a lot of the same stuff. She likes stuff I got tired of. Be.g. Tull

Yes and no. My oldest daughter likes Twenty-One Pilots, Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, etc. and I don't like that, except for one Fall Out Boy song. My oldest son listens to classic rock and I like that. He comes to me every other day and asks something like, "Do you know how to play Fortunate Son?".

I think we all owe it to ourselves to make sure our own children understand what good music is. That said, the parents of kids 15-30 years old should be fricking ashamed of themselves.

Of all the music that gets played in the house, new, old, and various genres, my 11-year old daughter's favorite album is 'Love and Fear and the Time Machine' by Riverside...so yes, I like what she listens to

My son isn't really into music. He likes some of what I listen to, but I couldn't even tell you who his favorite artists are. He has started asking me more about bands I listen to, and asking to listen to records so maybe the light is coming on for him.

My daughter listens to pop crap mostly. I do like Taylor Swift okay, but the rest is pretty bad. She does like The Shins and Neko Case, two of my favorites so that's cool.

My 16yo daughter is into some good stuff. I have turned her onto bands such as My Morning Jacket, Radiohead, Lone Bellow and such (I can't get her into metal unfortunately). She uses Spotify to listen to these channels and finds some good bands that way.

She has also found some stuff through her peers that I like. I don't recall any of the bands, but I hear her listening to it and like it. It's more of the chick singer/guitarist type, but it is some nice stuff.

Then she plays bro country and one direction and loses me, so it's a mixed bag.

My older daughter (15) plays guitar and bass. She's currently on a Metallica kick. She was excited the other day to find Master of Puppets for sale on vinyl. Her recent interest in Metallica has reignited mine as well.

The two bands she plays in is a mixed bag of stuff. They play everything from Green Day to Foo Fighters to Pink Floyd to Metallica. She's also been listening to a lot of Guns N' Roses and Led Zeppelin lately too.

My youngest daughter (12) listens to all the crappy pop stuff. About the only thing I can handle from that is the older Taylor Swift stuff. The rest of it is nails on a chalkboard to me.

Heard Wilco and Dr. Dog emanating from my 17 year old's room. He also listens to classic rock. So yes. But, he listens to a lot rap too. That I'm not really into.

My daughter (14) loves Queen, Prince, and Hall and Oates. She also likes Twenty One Pilots and Panic at the Disco.

Lately she's been hooked on a band called The Lemon Twigs. They sound like The Beatles and Bowie had a baby and then gave it LSD. The Lemon Twigs - Small Victories

I'm 22 and my favorite bands are
1.) Queen
2.) Guns N Roses
3.) Led Zepplin
4.) CCR
5.) Prince

Today's music, minus a few (I/E Bruno Mars), is absolute garbage.

One of mine plays drums, and he's been in a variety of cover bands as part of the program he's in, so he likes:
White Stripes, Chris Cornell/Soundgarden, Motown, Michael Jackson, Prince, Blink 182, and a wide variety of other stuff he's drummed to.

My other son likes the same, but he's also really into rap. I'm also into rap, though, so it's fine. I just don't like some of the stuff his friends listen to, but he kind of prides himself on being into "real" hip hop, so some of his buddies might be listening to XXX of 69, he's listening to Vince Staples, Kendrick, Saba, etc... as well.

They're both also really into the stuff their mom and I both listen to when we're together like Wilco, Avett Brothers, Band of Horses, Gregory Alan Isakov, John Prine, etc..

Neither of them care for mainstream/pop music.
