I find that people who say there is no good music today are the same people that are too lazy to venture out past the mainstream radio stuff

Mainstream music is pretty horrible. However if you look there is really good music being made.
I can see Portugal. The Man standing the test of time. They have some solid albums

You can find great music in any genre you can think of. The barrier for entry is nothing nowadays so all kinds of talented people can produce high quality stuff and get their music on Spotify or any other music platform easily.

You’re arguing with old people who have very specific tastes and view everything through a lens of nostalgia. Good luck

I finally figured that out when I read the one guy that said he missed Starship.

Arcade Fire, Spoon, and Black Keys all will stand the test of time.
Throw Cage the Elephant in there also.

In that same genre, Kings of Leon, young the giant, death cab, the shins, etc. Tons of indie stuff will be long lasting.

I think both are timeless.

Who knows what stands the test of time and who cares, really?
Just listen to the music you enjoy and ignore the peripheral bullshite.

quote:Yep.
Hint: it’s not on the radio.
Example: Baton Rouge blues fest happened recently. Nothing huge. All I did was look at the lineup and look up (on Apple Music) every act I didn’t already know. Found, among others, a duo called Greyhounds that I’ll never hear on the radio, but they’re great. LINK

But to say that there is no classic or iconic music artists today is dumb. They're not on the radio, probably not even wining grammy's, but they are out there
Do you know what the term iconic means?
