and now Diddy is all over superbowl commercials for Uber One sampling bangers from the 90s like "this is how we do it" and just rubbing it in Gordie's stupid face

Gordon is Sting's real name, btw.

Seems very excessive.

“Diddy is one of the highest-paid and richest celebrities in the world and has been for two decades+. In a given recent year he earns $50 – $100 million. Between 2000 and 2020 he has earned well over $1 billion from his sprawling business empire that includes music royalties and investments in brands like Ciroq vodka. He also owns a stake in DeLeon tequila and an alkaline water brand called Aquahydrate.”

I’d say most of his career has been stealing music, just look into how he stole “Juicy” from the MS rapper notorious B1, who dropped this song a year before Biggie

which Sting wrote, without permission.

I read this part as if Sting wrote Every Breath You Take without permission.

And I know that was in the 90s, but Diddy had been in the music business for several years. WTF would he sample it without permission?

Did he get permission for the beat in Cant Hold Me Down, which Ice Cube used in a song before Diddy did?

true, the number is $1.825 million per year. The song came out 25 years ago, so that is $45.625 million. Seems very excessive.

Don’t go taking other people’s shut without permission and making millions off of it.

In the interview, Sting said he and Diddy are friends now.

I'd be friends with Diddy as well if he was paying me $5k a day.

Well all the good tunes have already been done so musicians have to borrow from each other

Are you saying frick sting for doing this?

No, that is what Juice WRLD tweeted when he found out Sting now has 85% ownership of his song.

How in the world did Diddy not think to get that sample cleared.

Every Breath You Take is a very popular song. Of course someone would recognize it. And it's not like he sampled it for a random end of album song just to fill a slot. He used the sample for a song used in tribute of Biggy Smalls, of course that song would be huge.

I could have sworn Sting and Diddy did a hybrid duo of this song back in the 90s. I had assumed Sting signed off on it but I guess not.

If I didn’t know any better I’d say you are pretty obtuse after reading that.
