I know they are playing in New Orleans in September, and I'm thinking about going.

1. Who else is going to this?
2. How good is STP live these days? They still put on a good show without Weiland?
3. How is the Filmore? Is this a good place to see a concert?

Thanks in advance for any input.

1. I want to if my schedule permits. Rival Sons are opening and they kick arse.
2. Saw them last year with The Cult and Bush and was pleasantly surprised at how good the new guy is. Latest album is good too.
3. Fillmore is great, probably better if you're a teetotaller though. Draft beer is 16 bucks. And don't get premium seats, they're all the way in the back.

No, they aren’t. There’s no such thing as Stone Temple Pilots anymore.

That the person who owns the rights to the name of the band is touring on that name doesn’t mean the band still exists.

Thank god we’re not subjected to a Dave Grohl led “Nirvana” tour with some blonde club crooner fronting.

I have seen STP with both Weiland & Gutt. Gutt is no Weiland by any means but he is really good. You can't ask any more of him than what he does.

Warning: The STP show at the Fillmore in New Orleans is the exact same night as the Saints-Cowgirls Sunday night game(7pm) in the Superdome.

Rivals Sons (the opening band) will easily be the best band on stage that night. They are awesome. Today's STP is decent but don't expect the same band from the early 90s.

It's only going to be worse than the last time I saw them, they can't possibly be better. I'd rather sit with the memory.

I saw them around 2000 at the State Palace Theater. I really don’t know if I ever saw anything better than STP in that small setting. They were on top their game that night.

I was at that show too. Weiland was recently out of jail & was sober. They were on fire that night. I miss that venue.

Would go for Rival Sons and hang around for STP. RS is one of the best pure rock and roll bands going today.

Saw them in 2009 at a casino outside in the desert east of San Diego. Even though there wasn’t much energy with the crowd Scott brought it hard. That band died with him.

June 2000. I remember because Weiland mentioned the D Day museum had just opened, and that was 6/6/00.

One of the best shows I have ever seen. We had seats in the very front of the balcony and they absolutely blew us away. Weiland was on the top of his game (must have been one of his clean, or clean-ish, stints) and his stage presence was unparalleled.

Later saw them at Voodoo Fest on Scott's birthday and he ran around naked with an American flag wrapped around his bottom. I'm sure the new guy is a good singer, and that might work for the records, but you can't replace what Weiland did on stage.

This is pretty much nonsense. It's not one person who "owns the name." It's 3 of the 4 members who formed the band.

You had a great post going and then,

You screwed it all up.
