Classic albums where you actually preferred the follow-up album more

The Stones' 'Some Girls' is heralded as a classic album, even getting the deluxe reissue treatment. I think it's a great album, and "Far Away Eyes" is on my short list of Stones favorites. That said, their follow-up 'Emotional Rescue' barely gets any mention whatsoever (not anymore, anyway), but I actually prefer it over 'Some Girls'. Can't really explain why, but that's how I've always felt...
Any other picks?

Hmmm. It's close, but I think I prefer Radiohead's Amnesiac to Kid A. I see Kid A on a lot of "greatest albums of all time" lists, but I think Amnesiac (which was made up of b-sides and outtakes that didn't make it onto Kid A in the first place) is the far superior collection of songs.
To me, Kid A was kind of like Radiohead saying, "Hey, look how weird we've gotten!", and Amnesiac was them saying, "All right, now look at how great an album we can make with that weirdness."

I actually prefer Pearl Jam's "Vs." to "Ten".
It's marginal, but still prefer.

Dark Side of the Moon.
Love them both, but I prefer Wish You Were Here.

I get that DSOTM is the sort of intro into Floyd, but WYWH is just so much better. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is perfection. 5 songs, all great.

Let Me Go, She´s So Cold, are great tunes. Charlie´s tinny crash on this album truly sounds like a ´crash´.

I prefer In Utero to Nevermind.
Though I guess most people would say In Utero was a better album sonically, lyrically, etc. but didn't have the cultural impact as Nevermind.
Also, I like Evil Empire better than RATM (assuming the latter qualifies as a classic album).

I prefer WYWH over DSOTM too, but that album is also a universal classic in its own right. That said, keeping with the topic, I prefer Animals over WYWH....

Darkness On The Edge Of Town > Born To Run
X Wild Gift (which was stuff the left off first album) > Los Angeles
Pixies Doolittle > Surfer Rosa (although both albums get a lot of acclaim)
Judas Priest Point Of Entry > British Steel.
