Saw him this past Tuesday. Really special seeing him in NY.
Played 2 1/2 hours.
Opened with Miami 2017 which I understand he doesn’t play much. I was ecstatic.
Here’s the set list.
The band member who sang Whole Lotta Love also sang the Puccini aria. Phenomenal.

Sunshine of your love is cream baw
ETA: billy Joel is like one of my favorite guys. I feel like he’s kind of a hack that managed to get famous and rich. Wish that’d happen to me

Billy Joel puts on a great show but I wish he didn't waste so much time with covers. He could play three or four more of his songs with the time he spends on covers.

True. There was only a couple others of his I cared much about though.
Whole Lotta Love was great as was the Tina Turner song and the Puccini aria.
They are there to allow his talented band members to show off a bit.
Sunshine of your love I could have done without. And the F Valli song.
He cut the Stones song after about 30 seconds. He was just goofing around with that one.

Really good New Yorker piece that describes the way the MSG thing works. Truly baller. Like, 15 minutes after walking offstage, he's on his private dock on Long Island drinking wine.

Great set list!
I'm glad when they throw a few covers in there.

I feel like that is a generational thing. He grew up seeing the big bands and jazz artists who would often perform as many "standards" as they would original work.
That set list is pretty damn long for an old man. Most modern bands play 10-15 songs at best.

Michael DelGuidice. He crushed it in Houston and sang Tush by ZZtop.

I have never been his biggest fan and really actively dislike some of the later music (Modern Woman, River of Dreams)...however, you have to respect that set list and all of the hits that he has had in his career. Very impressive body of work. Sometimes you don't realize just how many hits he has had.

My girlfriend (and eventual wife, no pics) saw him in the Tacoma Dome in 1989. We had nose-bleed level seats.
I always get to stuff really early and when we got to our seats, we were literally the only people in our entire section. Soon, a guy walked up to us and asked if we wanted better seats. Of course we did. He gave us 2 tickets and directed us to the front row.
We were seated in the front row, about 15 feet from where Billy was playing his piano during the concert. About 1/2 way through his set, they let the first three rows stand against the stage. He was close enough to touch and I got a "high 5" from him after he finished Piano Man as he left the stage.
I learned later that the guy that gave us the tickets was part of his crew and that he did that for every one of his venues when he toured. The first couple of rows were all people that got upgraded from the nose-bleeds to the front row.
One of the best concert experiences of my life.

Here's an article that I saw today, that describes exactly the same experience that I described above.
Good to know he is STILL giving away the best seats in the house!
