Tip's is my favorite venue i have ever been too, including MSG on new years.
Wow really? I love Tips and go there about 2 times a month. Going to MSG in two weeks, guess ill lower my expectations.

No, MSG was awesome dont get me wrong. I just like small venues better then huge venues.

Spanish Moon and the Manship are the two best in BR though i do enjoy Chelsea's.
The Varsity can climb if they continue booking solid shows. They just got to a point a couple of years ago where it was glorified karaoke 5 nights a week.

Couldn't have a worse layout. The bar takes up waaaay too much room. It's fine for a small crowd, but sold out shows are awkward in there.

Couldn't agree more.

Preservation Jazz Hall should be at top
Rock n Bowl should be on there. Beau
Good calls. I overlooked them. Same with Fred's. Don't know Blue Moon Saloon well enough.

Varsity shouldnt be anywhere close to 4
I think it's a solid venue that's been underutilized. I've seen some good shows there and the building accomodated them well. Elliott Smith, Cracker, Willie Nelson, there've been others (did I see Living Colour there?).
Anybody remember Tabby's Blues Box? Went there a few times in the 80s and it was fun. I didn't know BR well back then so my question now is, where the hell was it?

Probably not as prominent as Fred's but a lot of Cajun artists have recorded live there.

They have had just terrible talent guys. If they booked a lot of moderately known bands especially out of NOLA instead of getting a big name(usually washed up) every 5 months it would be crazy successful.
As of now M&W is gonna pass up the Varsity imo

I much prefer small venues but I just wont go to a show at a small venue that will just be unbearably packed like the Spanish Moon always is.

In the past 9 months Galactic, Flowtribe, Earphunk, Dumpstaphunk, Rebirth Brass Band, Soul Rebels Brass Band, The Revivalists, and Swampgrease have played there right?
The Revivalists show on Friday kicked arse.
ETA: The best venue in LA will always be the Saenger. Can't wait for it to re-open in the fall.

Thats true but I have seen all those bands too many times.
I really want them to get Hurray for the Riff Raff

That band doesn't even sellout One Eyed Jacks in Nola. Why in the hell would they play an 800 cap venue in BR?

Mud and water needs to make this happen

Downtown on Lafayette Street. It recently reopened as "The Blues Room." I think I got the new name right, but there is a really hot bartender that works there sometimes. I got thrown out trying to steal third.

So they can play to 20 people?
I love the band but c'mon man

They would draw enough to justify a show at Mud and Water
