They should renovate the Greek amphitheater on LSU's campus

varsity is the best venue in BR as far as space, sound, and acoustics... Chelsea's and spanish moon, but all three have flaws as far as being the "perfect" venue IMO.
Varsity is far from "perfect" too. I'd rather go to a show at Spanish Moon.

Objectively, the spanish moon sucks as far as sound goes. I've played both venues and the varsity blows anything else in BR out of the water.

Perfect example of why the Varsity has sucked the past couple of years

No you haven't.

How many people were dissatisfied with the sound at the Deftones show? I've been to numerous shows there where normal conversations could be heard over the music. Pretty sad when BR finally gets an Umphrey's show and you can barely hear it. This isn't to say that Spanish Moon's is amazing, but at least the bar and the staff aren't as bad as the Varsity's.

Venues that I have played at in BR

Varsity
Chelsea's
Spanish moon
Mud and water
Red star (RIP)
North Gate
Manship Theatre
Clicks

Come at me bro

Not to mention all the shows that I've booked around town throughout the years.

Anyways, the problem with spanish moon is the gigantic brick wall on the side of the stage. As well as for packed shows the choke point between the bar and the stage as it comes to a corner.

Don't get me wrong, I have fun there and it's a cool venue, but the sound system sucks. Modell is a great sound guy though and does a fantastic job with with he has.

Chelsea's flaw is that it is a restaurant as well as a venue. I love their food, and the sound is pretty good but the stage setup is awkward.

Manship theatre Hartley vey room is one of the best sounding rooms in the city but not a lot of people know about it I guess. Renovations going on right now.

Mud and water is just getting its feet wet as far as being a venue goes. Upgrades to the PA are in the works, but I love the room. It's small and intimate.

That band has played there multiple times.

And with the deftones, who was running sound? Their sound guy or the varsity?

Thank you, Sherlock.

Probably the sound guy. Doesn't change the fact that there's a possibility that it was the Varsity's fault and they have a history of poor sound performance.

Nut up and post some links now, liar.

I used to work at the varsity years ago. Their sound system is really really good.

When a band like Umphreys or Deftones goes into a room they bring their own Front of House engineer.

You're also not taking into acct that said touring sound engineer is getting blasted by 95 - 100db for hours on end a month at a time. What may sound "perfect" to him, might not sound perfect to you or I.

Welcome to Live Sound 101.

No shite. Never said otherwise. The Varsity still has a history of shows with poor sound quality. There's a trend there that you won't find at many other venues.
