I can't remember the film but I saw something fairly recently that used Lou Reed's "perfect day" and it was spot on.

Yeah, I make a distinction between a film score and a song that’s part of the soundtrack.

In the City- Joe Walsh Final scene on the beach in "The Warriors". Iconic song in an iconic movie for me anyways.

I don't like their music much either, but you couldn't possibly use another song for the opening of that film. It is an absolutely perfect choice.
