Saw Hendrix from the front row at Municipal Auditorium

I've always loved the Varsity and One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans too. Converted movie theaters make for ideal concert halls IMO.

Woodlands Pavillion for me. Its 10 minutes from my front door and I have the ability to go to literally any show I want and park right outside the gate. It might not always be the #1 place I want to see a band, but it's hard to say it's not the "best" for me.

I'd love to see a show at Royal Albert Hall.

I really like the South Side Ballroom in Dallas. Used to be called the Palladium Ballroom. Small venue, great bands comes there, and great acoustics.
Although i'm pretty sure if I could go to Red Rocks in Colorado then that would jump to #1. I mean that place looks amazing.
Also, maybe cliche, but the Grand Ole Opry did not disappoint, even though the bands weren't anything special.

Seeing Van Halen at Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport in 1982 on the Diver Down tour was a little slice of heaven for me at that time in my life. I was only 14 so, of course, it was awesome.

Either the Georgia Theatre in Athens or Mud Island Amphitheater in Memphis
I love the Georgia Theatre, but Mud Island?? I'm not a fan of only three beer lines, or standing in four inches of piss

I’m about to watch Jason Isbell (3rd time this year) at a football stadium in Asheville, North Carolina.
i'm going to see him at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville at the end of the month. Don't even want to know his politics. never been, never seen him, just became a fan in early summer. can't wait.

I was at this show. 90's era Metallica was by far the worst era of their existence but the stage for this tour was just amazing. Maybe the best concept ever for a tour.

Bomb Factory- Dallas. Amazing venue
Did you go there back in the 90's? I'm curious what has changed since they shut it down and brought it back. It was pretty much a dump back then...kind of felt like they could still make bombs up in there
Does Deep Ellum Live or whatever it is called, still exist? It was located down the street from the Bomb Factory, I believe. I liked that place a lot.
I saw a show at the The Observatory/Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, CA one time. We had seats where you could order food...that wasn't too shabby. The venue was really nice too, but kind of out in the middle of no where, near a home depot. I always think fondly of that place, for some reason.
Nevertheless, the Varsity always gets my vote, no matter how many shows I see across the country...it is a really nice sized place and they never let it get too packed (unlike the HOB NOLA).
The Civic in NOLA ain't bad either, especially if you get one of the front row seats in the balcony...lots of room for your feet and such.

Never got to go there in the 90's but it has been completely renovated. Go to the Bomb Factory website & check it out. Incredible venue. Great sight lines & sound. Yes, it is in Deep Ellum. When I moved here in 2006 you just didn't go to Deep Ellum as crime had rendered it avoidable. It is now back & great place to go out again in Dallas. Tons of new places have opened.

that's the truth. I was surprised when someone mentioned it as being a great venue. That was a terrible venue. I did see Nirvana there though
