Opened for Bush the next year on I'd assume their first big arena tour promoting Tragic Kingdom ("Just A Girl" hadn't been on the radio that long) - I know No Doubt had a bit of a following in California and there's footage of Gwen at KROQ Weenie Roast with Sublime before Tragic Kingdom, but that album sold 16 million albums worldwide and made them gigantic

Saw Foo Fighters open for Chili Peppers about 10 yrs ago before they got really big. Did not care for the FF at the time however they absolutely blew the CP away even though that's who I went to see. Been a big fan ever since.

I saw Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins open for Red Hot Chili Peppers. So that could be a push with Pearl Jam and the RHCP

Foo Fighters were already playing stadiums like Wembley by 2008 - they were supposed to headline Voodoo in 2005 before Katrina

I went to see 311 and the only thing I remember from watching No Doubt was trying to figure out if Gwen was hot or not. She looks hot but is she really? Something isn;t right or is it? It was puzzling.

Wasn't that in 2000ish? I understand what you're saying, but pretty sure the Foo Fighters have always been big, though.

In the New Orleans Municiple Auditorium I saw Pearl Jam, then Smashing Pumpkins open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers for about $15. So same tour. $15. Damn I miss the old days.
