Bands you hated until you saw them Live

Blind Melon is a big one for me. I recall HATING "No Rain," and I cringed every time that stupid song came on the radio.
Then Woodstock2 happened, and man was it glorious.
My dad had purchased it for my birthday weekend and had a party at his house. I planned to tune out Blind Melon when they came on stage, but I was sucked in by their opening song. I was stunned at how great they were. "No Rain" was a distant memory at that point, because everything else they played was incredible.
One song in particular struck me, Soup. I became an instant fan, and have been so every since.
I was depressed when I learned I wouldn't see them live in person when it was announced the day of the New Orleans show that Shannon Hoon had OD'd.
Here's the full Woodstock show if anyone is interested

Nothing More. I hated them until I saw their phenomenal live performance. One of my favorite rock bands now.

Bob Dylan - I went with friends and knew I would hate it, but his band was really, really good. I was very surprised.

I'd love to see him live in his prime. Too bad I'm too young for that

I was at that show. It was fricking epic! I am pissed to this day, because we missed Faith No More's opening act due to my dad's friends taking forever to get to his house.

I wouldn't say I hated them, but despite my friend's best efforts I just never cared for Phish. Then he dragged me to a show and I was hooked.

Five Points South Music Hall, Birmingham, AL
Set 1: The Great Gig in the Sky > Split Open and Melt, Bouncing Around the Room, Down with Disease > It's Ice > Glide > Divided Sky, Suzy Greenberg > Foam, Sample in a Jar
Set 2: Runaway Jim, Mound > Reba, Golgi Apparatus, The Lizards, Julius, Lawn Boy > Mike's Song[1] -> Jam[2]
E: Cavern
ETA: Pink Floyd played Bham the night before, and I went to that show as well. Pretty good two night run. Rumor is Phish was at the Pink Floyd show, which explains the opener and there was a Money tease in one song.

My dad loathed Queen until he saw them live around 1978 in Baton Rouge.
Freddie Mercury came out on stage riding atop R2D2 and proceeded, as always, to melt some faces. The rest is history.

Journey
Still don't really like them too much, but i had preconceived notions about them...thinking "yeah we get it, you had one song "Dont Stop Believing" that is the most overplayed song of all time." but they were very unassuming and seemed to put on a good show.

I was fairly indifferent to Peter Gabriel until I saw him live. Great show.

wasn't a big fan of Eric Church till I heard him at BCSF couple years ago

My morning jacket. I didn't hate them, but I thought their stuff was really slow and boring. I saw them live in Dallas, and they rocked so hard I became a fan.

Great topic!
Ben Folds Five - was blown away at the musicianship
Urge Overkill opening for Pearl Jam in 93
Queens of the Stone Age - didn't hate them, was just indifferent towards them until they rocked hard
Interpol on the tour for their first album

My favorite band for the past 8 years. My friend loaned me the Okonokos DVD back then, and it was my first experience of them. I was hooked ever since. I love every record they have put out, but I would've found them boring most likely without seeing them live first.
This is one of the best live acts out there

I wasn't a big My Morning Jacket fan until I saw them at the Tuscaloosa Amp after the tornado. Not that I hated them, just didn't really get the obsession my friends had. That and I only knew 2 songs prior to the concert.
Cake is another. First heard of them from their song "Italian Love Sofa" on the show Mission Hill.

Awolnation.
Saw them at Voodoo and they had a pretty great concert. Lead singer crowd surfed on a surfboard. Though I don't think the guys around me liked me yelling "Sail!" at random points throughout the show.

Your dad and I were at the same show. My vote goes to Bruce Springsteen. I was never a fan until I saw him a the Assembly Center in 1978. One of the best concerts I've ever attended.
