Gun Club... One of the greatest albums of all time

Besides the obvious of GNR, I'll add Down, Blind Melon, and Linkin Park.

Highly Suspect
I think The Boy Who Died Wolf was better than their debut. Both had hits and misses on them though. Now the 3rd album I'm not crazy about at all.

Good call. That’s another clear cut one. One of the greatest guitar albums of all time.

Nah. Evil Empire FTW
It's a worth while discussion. Disclaimer: Taste in music is SUBJECTIVE and everyone is entitled to their own opinion and in their own minds opinion is not wrong and they are not wrong because of their opinion.
Rank each album in terms of their "best songs", and then look down the track list of the two albums. IMHO, the top 3-4 tracks are close on the two albums with RATM ahead of Evil Empire. However, the farther down that list you go, the further ahead the original album gets. IMHO the last 3-4 tracks on Evil Empire are not to my fancy. But again, it's just my opinion.
1 Know your Enemy = Bulls on Parade
These two songs are very, very close. Two close for me to call here. If one put Bulls on Parade ahead, I couldn't argue they were wrong. In fact you might easily make the argument that BOP is their best song over all. But know your enemy is right on it's heels.
2 Killing in the Name of > People of the Sun
3 Freedom > Down Rodeo (The hook in Down Rodeo is dope (better), but freedom takes it with the chord progression in the final verse)
4 Revolver > Bombtrack
5.Wake Up > Vietnow
6 Take the Power Back >> Year Of Tha Boomerang
7 Fistful of Steel >> Roll Right
8 Bullet in the Head >> Snakecharmer
9 Township Rebellion > Without A Face
10 Tire Me > Settle for Nothing
11 Wind Below

Is it though
I think it is, but I suppose this is highly subjective.
Marquee Moon is their best track IMO. In the running for the best guitar solo and the best ten minute plus runtime song of all-time in my book.

How could I forget this one...
Edit: I personally like the "Broken" Ep better, but it's technically not an album...

but Black Sabbath and then Dio declined after each debut.
Disagree, Mob Rules is an incredible album as is Last in Line

I never was a big Sabbath fan, or much of a metal fan in general, but I loved Mob Rules. I wore about 3 cassettes of that out.

Blind Melon
I gotta disagree strongly, and not because I don't love their debut album, but Soup is one of the best albums of the 90s.

Television had basically no chance to top Marquee Moon; it's easily one of the top 10-20 albums of all time and should be on the short list of most influential albums ever. Adventure is a fricking great album.
Whoever said Beastie Boys has obviously never listened to Paul's Boutique which is clearly their best album.

Hadn’t listened before. Regret that it took so long to try but happy to have done it

The first album is usually a band putting forward all the best stuff they already have.
Expect that's not usually. I can name many more bands off the top of my head whose debut wasn't their best.
Metallica, Chili Peppers, Tool, Chevelle, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Korn, Pantera, Puscifer, STP.

I'll add Counting Crows first album. One I always listen to from beginning to end.

The Head and The Heart
Of course they're pretty much a different band now
