I go back and forth on those two. Love them both.

The first album is usually a band putting forward all the best stuff they already have.
Yes. For some bands that could be 10 years worth of material culled down to an album with the follow-up paling in comparison.
Example: Pronounced Lynyrd Skynyrd >>>> Second Helping

What if you have 20+ legit songs and the record company doesn't want to put out a double album as your debut?
X did this. Wild Gift is simply the songs that didn't make Los Angeles.

Weezer - The Blue Album... and it's not even close. It's a perfect record and NOTHING they recorded after that can touch it. Definitely not any of the horseshite they've put out over the last 15+ years.

I think The Suburbs is their best album by far.

Great album. Perfectly reasonable choice, but give me Pinkerton. I realize I’m probably in the minority with that opinion.
Pinkerton is 100% second best to the Blue Album... but the Blue Album is my pick for best record of the 90s. Beach Boys meets Ramones meets Black Sabbath (they had those Orange Amps cranked up pumping out big crunchy riffs on some of those songs) meets The Cars meets Kiss/70s arena rock. Every song on that record is great and I have listened to it regularly since it came out.

I beg to differ. I think VS is better than Ten

Not even one of their top two albums, maybe not even top five. The Royal Scam and Katy Lied are heads and shoulders above everything else they did. Then you can pretty much pull Can't Buy a Thrill, Countdown to Ecstasy, Aja, and Pretzel Logic out of a hat.

The Cars - like Boston’s first album, you have probably heard every song on it.
