Their music endures and they could come out with all the hits today and it would feel just as relevant as in the early 1970s. Their sound has endured unlike a band like the Beatles.
Everyone knows a line from at least one or 2 of their songs.

Best band of all time is very subjective. If I had to guess, I think the Beatles would be recognized universally as the best of all time. Not really my bag, but that is probably going to be the most popular answer.

While the best band of all time is certainly subjective. There is zero chance the Eagles could be mistaken for that band.

Thanks for bringing up such a painful subject. I am in a constant state of anger at XM for choosing The Loft to kill for the stupid arse Eagles channel. Why don't you give me a paper cut and pour lemon juice in it

I've learned to appreciate them much more as I've aged. Very versatile, high quality musicians, thoughtful lyrics.

Even my old man loved the Eagles. But, I hate Don Henley. Not just politics. The underaged prostitutes he had at his house - he had the one that OD'd arrested for prostitution and the other charged with possession of drugs. (After he had broken up with Stevie Nicks and bond girl Lois Chiles, but before he and Frey had really begun to screw all the other members of the band out of 10s of millions of dollars.)

So, frick that guy. I'd rather see Felder play Hotel California and sing it with the help of autotune.

Not the best, but definitely one of the most talented imo.

I would agree with this. If you highlighted my four favorite Eagles tunes, all four are lead by different people, one of which is the drummer.

-Pretty Maids All In a Row: Walsh
-One of These Nights: Henley
-Lyin’ Eyes: Frey
-I Can’t Tell You Why: Schmidt

That is a very high level of talent. Most groups have one, maybe two band members that can sing, the Eagles had everybody, not to mention most of them were multi-instrumentalists as well.

I have had the exact opposite experience. The Eagles are so boring.

you could make the argument they're the best U.S. band of all-time. I'll counter with TP and the Heartbreakers, as a rival for that honor.

As far as the best band of all-time - worldwide? No.

That would be The Beatles.
