Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Well, Dolly Parton didn’t get her wish, although she’s likely to be happy anyway. The country superstar will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November — a possibility she said last week she’d come to terms with and would “graciously” accept, after initially trying to get herself nixed — along with Duran Duran, Pat Benatar, Eminem, Lionel Richie, Eurythmics and Carly Simon.
Those are the seven performers that the Hall’s thousand-plus voters chose. There are eight more getting in besides who were not included in the competition but were selected by the board for inclusion in other categories. These include the band Judas Priest, which was on the ballot this year but didn’t make the cut with voters; the Hall’s keepers decided the metal group was essential to include nonetheless. Also selected for enshrinement were producer-musicians Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, singers Harry Belafonte and Elizabeth Cotten, and executives Sylvia Robinson, Jimmy Iovine and Allen Grubman.
The list of inductees, and the four categories in which they appear:
Performer Category
Pat Benatar
Duran Duran
Eminem
Eurythmics
Dolly Parton
Lionel Richie
Carly Simon
Musical Excellence Award
Judas Priest
Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis
Early Influence Award
Harry Belafonte
Elizabeth Cotten
Ahmet Ertegun Award
Allen Grubman
Jimmy Iovine
Sylvia Robinson

It's a crime that not only was Judas Priest given the "Musical Excellence Award" but that they weren't in the first year they were eligible. The ROR HOF is a Jann Wenner/New York elitist organization whose members wouldn't associates with anyone who would have the audacity to shop at a Wal Mart at least once in their life.
Everyone on the list is great & deserved to get in. I'm still waiting for Iron Maiden & Motorhead to get in.

Eminem, my favorite rock star

They need other hall of fames for different genres. I don't see how Dolly Parton a pop country singer gets inducted.

He was great on the lead guitar.

Dolly, M&M, and Lionel aren't even Rock n Roll

Can you be elitist if you only nominate and vote in the most popular acts and artists?

Judas Priest,
Hopefully this reunites the band with KK. No disrespect to Andy Sneap but need KK up there since Glenn has medical issues

Is it really a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when bands like Iron Maiden and Motley Crue haven't come close to being inducted?

Why is is still called the Rock & Roll HoF?
Just call it the music and preforming arts HoF, no one will mind and it will make much more since.

Crue started everything in the '80s. The only two you mentioned I might slate ahead of them are Ozzy and Dio.

I was a big fan of Too Fast for Love and Shout at the Devil when they came out, I was in High School. I franly can only laugh at the your opinion that Crue started more then Maiden. I can make arguments for all the others as well. Accept's sound helps lead to speed and thrash. Death propelled extreme metal forward. Slayer is in the Big 4 for a reason etc...
