Saw it today. Great flick, especially considering it was made on a $30 million budget in 2026. For comparison, The Patriot had a $110 million budget in 2000 ($215 million in today's money)

Young Washington is incredibly good. So good, I decided to get an Angle Studio subscription today.

This is one of the best historical period pieces I have ever seen. They toned it down a bit in the climatic scene, real history is almost unbelievable. During the climatic battle, he had multiple horses shot out from under him along with all the bullet holes in his coat and hat. Some historians have called it almost supernatural how many times he narrowly escaped death throughout his entire career. I call it Divine Providence.

They have another Revolutionary war drama coming out called Drummer or something, plus a biopic of Reagan.

We need more movies of the founding fathers.

They need a movie of the war of 1812.

I thought they did really well with the action sequences, especially the scene with Fort Necessity and Washington's first failure.

Pacing was excellent. Visuals were top notch and at least on par with a top-tier TV show.

I thought it was pretty slow, visuals were fantastic but just found it slow and I guess my expectations were somewhere else

It whipped Supergirl pretty bad.

Not saying much as the commercials were terrible and Young Washington barely had any advertisement and a much lower budget.

How does it compare to John Adams?

I didn't even know this was a movie until today, but I'm going to but a ticket to watch it Sunday. Look at TD, doing work.

John Adams was excellent, but the series Turn is underrated.

John Adam's was pretty historically accurate. Young Washington had alot of artistic license and not to be taken as a documentation of history.

I'm pretty sure not all of Young Washington was totally inaccurate.

I just left the theater.

It was a very enjoyable film—one of those rare movies where I felt genuinely disappointed when it ended and wanted the story to continue. There’s already talk of a sequel, which would be fantastic.

I particularly appreciated the subtle foreshadowing lines. The most obvious was the pointed remark, “That’s the difference between you and me,” directed at Gage, contrasting his true homeland of Great Britain with Washington’s deep roots in Virginia.

I also had to smirk during an earlier scene in which George and his brother argue about the system of royal commissions, which are granted through generational wealth because “that’s just the way these things work.” George’s response—that things should change—felt like a clear jab at monarchical government.

—No biopic has ever met that standard because it’s a biopic and not a documentary.

I agree. This is for sure a movie you watch on the couch with your laptop open to TD. The trailers were better than the 30m or so that I lasted through before I walked out of the theater this morning.

The acting of the youngest GW was not good and started testing my patience almost immediately after he appeared. I bolted after he snuck into the Belvoir? party. I expected something with acting like Turn or the Patriot. But I'll give it another chance when it hits streaming.

Yeah.

I haven't seen it yet but I'm told that the film portrays him as a middle class social climber who is looking to strike it big as a land surveyor. That ain't accurate. The man was born into the wealthy landowner class and had been friends with the Fairfax family for years prior to the expedition into the Shenandoah Valley.

I understand the artistic license of it as it's the filmmakers trying to make him more relatable. Movies do this all the time and therefore it's a trope I don't have any issues with.

Saw it tonight. Really good movie. Yeah, there was some artistic license... but it didn't take away from anything. The guy playing the Half King reminded me quite a bit of Graham Greene. As has been said in this thread, it's one of those movies that when it's over, you wished there was more.
