Any of you looking forward to this? Christian Slater, Lou Diamond Phillips and Emilio Estevez are currently signed on.
Not expecting much, so hopefully it won't be too much of a disappointment.

YG 1&2 are two of my favorite movies of all time but I have no idea how they will do this. The whole gang died in 2 so it would have to take place prior to that and YG 2 was 32 years ago. None of these guys are young enough to play these roles anymore.

I loved the old films as well. Like you, I don't see how they can make the new version plausible being that it is 32 years later and most characters already died.
Even if they do somehow make the new film coherent, I dread how they will "modernize" the story.
Billy the Kid was an outlaw who killed 8 men before he himself was shot dead at age 21. I hope they don't turn him into some social justice crusader or an old west tranny.

They can maybe go with the old man Billy route they teased in part 2. I thought the gang was dead though.

Didn't they write at the end credits that Arkansas Dave was killed in Mexico?

Don’t see how you can have “Young” in the title when each of the actors are 50/60 years old. As much as I loved both the films, this seems like a horrible horrible idea.

Billy the Kid died when he was 21 years old.
So is Emilio playing his Gran Pappy?

Yes and the real-life Arkansas Dave really was shot and decapitated in Mexico just like the movie said in 1886
Doc Scurlock moved to TX and lived to be 80 years old
Chavez died at 72 in Vegas
And of course, Billy was allegedly killed by Pat Garrett in 1881
With all of that, are they going to suggest that the story Brushy Bill Roberts told in 2 was not accurate and all of them lived and did things later on in life despite history saying otherwise? There is no disputing Dave died 5 years after YG2, so unless you ignore historical facts, he would have to be out of the story if they are going for the Billy really didn't die and he, Doc, and Chavez remained friends and outlaws late in life now that all the actors are older.
Also, from all accounts, Brushy Bill Roberts and Doc led quiet lives so them being old outlaws would yet again ignore history.
Chavez was sentenced to life in prison and spent 11 years in jail. He was pardoned at 57 and lived peacefully until his death at 72 so again that would mess up a story about them being old friends riding together again.

I love those movies, the old west and Billy The Kid
I would be fine with an exaggeration of history where they say “what if” the gang had lived.

Doc and Chavez living quiet lives after, Billy was gone makes a lot of sense. Billy was the catalyst for anything "bad" they may have done. without billy, they aren't even footnotes in history, they are just nobodies living out their days in New Mexico.

Chavez only lived a quiet life after he was pardoned for murder. He was a member of several outlaw gangs well after Billy was killed. and he was an outlaw before joining the regluators.

Excited for it. I love Westerns, enjoyed the two earlier movies, and think adding some age to one's life makes some male actors get better in them. Maybe it has to do with people not living very long back in the Old West. Anyway, I hope they are all wild and woolly in this one! Don't need any clean shaven, pretty 60 year olds in my Westerns.

Anyone that liked Young Guns 1/2 and like westerns, needs to watch "Old Henry"...
very well done western, and quite topical for this discussion of young guns 3.

Last I've seen of them they've aged fairly respectfully.
