First mistake. Recognize the difference between a Universe and a character.

Indiana Jones is a character. Once Ford got to old to portray him fairly it’s over. Nobody wants to see other people try to be Indiana Jones or stuff “from the world of”. Bad idea.

Kids don't want to sit in movies, now they have instant entertainment on their tablets.

Fair enough, but the streaming shows for the IPs are way down, too. Practically all online engagement on the IPs are negative.

They really screwed up with grabbing kids. If you hook kids going you have a fan for life. Specifically boys.

Disney has so many IP's that they don't use because they were from a pre-Iger era. How about National Treasure, you could build movies around the Gates family. The nature of the movie would lead to gaming, cartoons, etc.

Sahara another IP that was one movie and done. What about the older IP's . Action adventure, Westerns, there are a ton of them, but Iger wants to remove Walt's Legacy beyond his name. The IP's they are talking about were all purchased and that is why they are screwed up, they put their "Disney" spin on them.

There is so much available in Comics, that putting a modern spin on it could build an audience, something like Penguin on HBO. A gritty dark series with Marvel would definitely work. Nothing overly complicated like MoonKnight, just crime, violence, and Action like Penguin.

I just read something that said boys see themselves as the character, girls see the character as themselves. They want to change the character to their likes and dislikes, so that is how females screw up male derived stories and IP's. It's not the IP's they need, its male, non-gay, people to produce the product. It can be done with what they already have. There is a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Nemo origin story called Nautilus out now. Perfect Example it's and origin story of Nemo, although there are some Women with prominent roles in it.

Men are the only people going to these movies. The problem is that they can't get young people to come to their old arse IP.

The funny part about this is it's true for the exact same reason mentioned by the OP: they've been pandering to women and gays for as long as boys have been interested in movies. They ruined their own cash cow by not recognizing who their audience is.

They also have lost a significant portion of interest from men of all ages though. Not just boys.

Nonsense. Kids love going to the movies.

Yeah, this is not true at all. If anything, they possibly have more male fans than they’ve ever had.

I should have said ‘3rd from right’ or ‘left of exact center’.

K

Some =/= nearly all

You can find some negative engagement about anything. But the engagement surrounding SW, MCU, and Indy is nearly all negative. Very few pockets of sunshine pumpers to be found. They exist, to be sure, but they are very few and often overwhelmed.

Hey man, they killed it with the recent Indiana Jones video game. Obviously, not done by Disney, but at least they let people who clearly love the IP run with it.

There's a pattern you can pick out

Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor were homeruns, too

Also not made by Disney

Disney was printing money with Marvel and the first Star Wars movie, while mediocre, was a billion dollar project.

Disney clearly misread what would get people to see their movies after that. Maybe they thought that Black Panther and Captain Marvel making a bajillion dollars was an indicator of a change in audience, but they didn’t realize that:

Black men were already going to Marvel movies. Seeing Black Panther and a black lead was good, but it’s not like they weren’t an audience already.

Captain Marvel, OTOH, was successful because it was sandwiched between Infinity War and Endgame. You could have had a movie dedicated to the Hulk overcoming constipation in that slot and it would have made half a billion.

It was a huge misfire by Disney. Maybe they can right the ship, I don’t know, but I doubt those brands are “dead” - but a lot of the default good will is gone. They’ll need to earn viewers back.

Disney didn’t care about Andor and let Gilroy do his thing. Same happened with paramount and Picard S3 with Terry Matalas. Those 2 were the best things either studio has put out by far. Get rid of Studio interference, messaging and casting creatives based on checked boxes and they’d be fine but people like KK and Feigi refuse to do it so there’s no course correction.

Which would look better if she were wearing a bra which held them up at least a little. Since the Force is female, you would think she could use it for some support.
