This is the best news of the week, perhaps the year.

quote:

Netflix announced on Thursday, to nearly unanimous celebration, that its users can now opt out of its notorious autoplay preview function.

***

Autoplay haters can disable the feature on the Netflix site by selecting “Manage Profiles” in the menu, clicking on the profile they want, and unchecking the option to autoplay previews. According to the Netflix help center, if the setting doesn’t take effect immediately, you can switch to another profile and switch back to force a refresh. Those who have enjoyed the autoplay function can leave things as they are, but either way, users can now choose, which is what streaming is all about.

No. The best news would be if they got rid of the “are you still watching” after 3 episodes.

Yes, Netflix. I’m still high on the couch. I don’t need you judging me by asking if I’m still watching.

I haven't tested it yet, but it sounds like this still won't stop trailers for Netflix content playing as soon as the credits roll for movies or the last episode of a TV show, which is what bothers me the most.

I feel like they've shortened the window before this pops up

I thought I remember hearing that there were doing some beta testing on this for certain TV shows

I do like it because it stops when I pass out for the night and its easier to track where I was. Hulu will burn through a couple seasons overnight

agreed, more often then not I'm no longer watching when it comes up and if I am, it's just one button

There's two boxes you can check. One of them does exactly this.

Yeah, this feature sucks. It used to only come on after like 5 plus hours of binging, now it’ll pop up sometimes after like 2 frickin episodes of a show

I actually like the auto play trailers, and wish every title had a small clip from the movie.

It’s tough for me to ever settle on something to watch but it always helps me when I can see a tiny scene of the movie and see if it fits with the exact mood I’m in

Is it just me or is this not a great way to watch a condensed version of their movies in less than 5 minutes? Their trailers leave no mystery

Finally.

Those auto previews for everything were ridiculous.
