Just watched the premiere. I thought it was great. It feels like a Dallas type show but the big money is land and livestock while dabbling into oil

Excellent first episode. Scenery can sell a show and this one did great. Has a Dallas feel to it with better acting and less soap opera feel to it.

he was in a no win situation. now he will have to deal with the wife and her family. And probably have to fight for custody/visitation rights.

Watched a few minutes of it. Enough to show me this is one to set for Recording on the DVR.

In the few minutes I watched I was reminded of how Costner can absolutely crush it when he gets the right role.

Costner is great casting. Truthfully, they did a great job across the board.

Danny Huston as the evil developer? That’s just perfect.

I liked the pilot, although Sheridan can be a little silly and melodramatic. The branding, fly fishing from horseback, it’s little things, but it makes it feel less authentic, and more like a soap. Sicaro remains my favorite because it doesn’t do that. It’s so restrained, so grounded.

Odd aside, Montana has the nicest trailer parks. I saw a double wide with granite countertops going for 100k a couple weeks ago.

Sure, but I’m not sure it’s critical.

Of course I wouldn’t feel that way about a show set in the Deep South. So perhaps that’s just my regional bias.

The scenery was amazing

Looking at Wikipedia, it seems like they shot a lot of it in Utah. I guess that’s economics for you, but I think the landscape around Bozeman is actually more dramatic, and prettier.

Right?

It felt sophomoric.

Started a little slow but I will continue to watch.
Felt like I was watching another Wind River, I guess that director likes the slow deliberate pace of the movie, same thing in the first episode of Yellowstone.

Same girl is in this series as well.

It’s not critical. That normally doesn’t bother me. But the little details did in this show. I think I just didn’t like the story enough to overcome them.

I’ll watch a few more just for scenery if nothing else.

Some of the locals have what feels like a Scandinavian accent. Although it’s way less pronounced than what you’d see in Minnesota.

Visited some family friends in the Bitterroot Valley about 10 years ago and noticed the accent. I wonder where that came from. Were Scandinavians a big part of the trapper/fur trade?

Good way to describe it. Milder Minnesota with a little Canada mixed in. Further north more Canadian sound.
