Absolutely fantastic movie that set up the sequel perfectly…

What the hell happened with the sequel?

Why doesn’t Hollywood enjoy success?

Good movie, but the book that it is “based” on really needs to be an HBO miniseries to do it real justice.

This. putting based in quotes is right. I was so angry that they wasted the IP for that shite that it clouded my judgement on the movie at first. Movie wasn’t bad but the book was so much better.

Just make some girl the key to everything , there’s your movie.

Preferably an intersectional WOC

I like the movie a lot but they could have called it anything else and been a good movie. Kinda sours the book.

Because China. Studio's pretty much wont make a movie, unless it's a woke black film, unless China says it's ok.

Yep. Would have done better with another title. They already had Brad Pitt, they didn’t need to use World War Z to get viewers.

I don't know if any movie that takes an absolute shite on the source material could be considered "fantastic"

What could they do in a sequel? They have the means to make everyone immune and by the end of the movie they were rounding up zombies in stadiums and blowing them up.

The red haired wife is one of the least attractive people I’ve ever seen

Love the Israel scene with the wall and the choppers

final act felt like reshoots and I didn’t care for that part

It is reshoots. Pitt hated the original ending and forced them to change it.

World War Z's original ending begins with Lane and Segen (Daniella Kertesz) flying to Moscow where they are immediately drafted into the army being built to fight the zombies. Instead of going to the WHO building, the original ending features a time jump showing a bearded Lane still fighting in Russia during the winter. It's during this time he realizes the zombies move slower in the cold, giving the humans an advantage in these conditions. He's been out of communication with his family this entire time, but he is finally able to speak to his wife, who has secretly had to strike up a relationship with Matthew Fox's paratrooper to keep her and the kids safe. Later on, Lane, Segen, and a character named Simon begin traveling through Russia to go to the United States and save Lane's family. World War Z's final scene had them arriving in America and storming the country to find his family.

Did it really set up a sequel? It ends by showing how the world learns to fight the zombies and beat them. What would the sequel be, just killing them using the methods you already found works?

I hate invoking the book here but I have to.

I can't think of a book set up more perfect for a mini-series than this one.

Also the book is a work of art that takes the subject matter very seriously. It's this seriousness that makes it so compelling. This isn't the walking dead or some other shite like that.

Each chapter is told from the perspective of a survivor or major player in dealing with the outbreak or what they called the "great panic".

It's truly an amazing book that's totally free of anything silly or ridiculous.

BOOK SPOILERS!!!!!

Some of the individual stories that come to mind include the great castles of Europe and how they were once again utilized.

Another story spoke to the extinction or near extinction of certain animals, such as tortoises.

The illegal organ trade played a big part in the spread of the disease.

The space station survivor who watched things sorta unfold from orbit was fascinating.

Pharmaceutical companies and their bullshite attempt to create a vaccine for what they referred to as "human rabies" is a good read.

The "Rudiker plan" was put in place to prevent human extinction. This was originally a pre-pandemic plan to save the white South African minority in the event of a racial uprising. They ended up using it to save South Africa from the hordes. Every nation on Earth adopted it.

I could go on. Terrific book.

it was turned into real life by calling it covid and they couldnt make a movie admitting their lies about covid
that, and it was the 1576th movie about zombie apocalypse so its been way over done and would only do well as made for TV movie, not in theaters

The title is literally the only thing movie and book have in common.
