You're easily offended.

Where did I say I was? It aggravates me that folks do that, and that they do that because the majority of people LIKE it, but if you have any intellectual honesty and you respect the creators of the character you'd shy away from forcing their creation into this box because it makes you feel good... I was telling Brosef that if he's looking to be offended (and he seems like he was based on that ridiculous claim that WW was anti-Christian because the actress was Jewish and she collapsed and dilapidated church in the movie while saving a village) then here's something that's actually wrong.

quote:

Snyder didn't invent the Superman as Jesus symbolism.

Once again...I type a lot. No need to strawman me into saying something I did not. I said "Damn shame that writers and film makers have attempted to turn him into something he was never intended to be." Now...in no way did I suggest that Snyder was alone in that, did I? Why suggest I did?

quote:

Singer referred to Superman as a returning messiah when he was making Superman Returns.

See my actual quote...he fits.

quote:

The death and resurrection of Superman in BvS and Justice League is straight from the comics.

Again...see my actual quote. They've cop-opting a character and turning him into something he was not.

quote:

Jesus in Godspell has been wearing the Superman symbol for 50 years.

See above.

quote:

If you're offended by writers seeing Jesus in Superman then you've been offended for 3/4 of a century.

I'm not "offended" at all. But if you're not bothered by writers and directors altering the entire basis for the creation of the character only because it fits your religious viewpoint, than that's troubling. Had Supes actually been created by two young devout Christians and this mythology was part of his origin story and then various writers and directors had altered it to be Jewish or Muslim people would have lost their damn minds.

I literally just bitch about someone bringing politics to the OT so I'm not gonna argue this here anymore, but this isn't about me being offended, just pointing out that it's ironic that folks are looking for an anti-Christian message in DC after DC has retconned their greatest character's backstory into a Christian allegory when it was never intended to be one.

I would say that in those small european towns at that time, the tallest building and best sniper vantage point would very likely be the church tower.

The guy apparently has never played an early war video game

Speaking of anti-Christian messages in this movie, how about the part where Gal Gadot, a Jewish woman, is boosted up to destroy a church? There's no way that wasn't intentional. When they were talking about marriage on the boat, why did Steve say they go before a judge and not a priest? Its a really a big contrast to all the Superman is literally Jesus imagery in Snyder's movies.

I'm willing to bet in 90% of towns, especially during WWI, that the tallest building in the town is a church. That's the obvious place to go to as a sniper.

Why destroy the building though? They had a sniper on their team who did nothing the entire movie. What a waste of a character.

You obviously missed the scene after that when WW and Sammy were talking about "everyone is fighting their own battles"

Yeah I saw that. He not got over his issues though. The other two guys got their chance to show off their skills. Why have a sniper who never snipes anyone?

Everything seemed to be right next to each other geographicly. When they first left the Island in a sailboat, it was an overnight trip and they were in Germany.

and yeah that cracked me up. they're in the water in the Med (had to be), outside of the Ottoman Empire, and then pop up in London. nbd

my favorite nitpick was how she had no clue what Germany was but spoke modern French and Italian

I took it as more of a shock as to "what are Germans doing here?" than not knowing what German is

I may have missed the dialogue, but why didn't they just blow up the plane in the hangar instead of Steve sacrificing himself?

The gas would have killed everyone in a 20 mile radius.

50 miles they said. But the explosion incinerated the gas. They mentioned that it was hydrogen based so it would burn. Flying it up in the air and blowing it up would still kill everybody in a 50 mile radius, right? He wasn't that far away.

yeah if the explosion in the air destroyed the gas, an explosion on the ground would do the same thing

So blow it up on the ground and avoid the unnecessary sacrifice.

Wow.

Finally someone got Superman right...just took a Wonder Woman movie to do it.

My only question is where is Diana during the events of Man of Steel?

It makes sense she wouldn't have been able to make it to Metropolis in time for that. It takes place like over a course of 2 hours.
