Is anyone else bothered that, based on this movie, the DC universe was created by Zeus? Not just Wonder Woman, but all of mankind (eventually including Batman, Flash, etc.) was created by Zeus according to Diana's mom. I'm not religiously offended (though I guess in the DC universe Christians are a bunch of suckers to buy that phony Bible thing), but it seems silly and unnecessary. I prefer how Marvel movies handle Thor and Odin - not really gods, more like aliens from another dimension who may have been treated as gods by primitive men. DC could have said Zeus 'adopted' or 'discovered' man, rather than created him. Instead, given this backstory, Martha Kent should be praying to Poseiden or something instead of wasting time at church every Sunday. In the DC universe, she's got it all wrong.

Diana's mother admitted that it was a children's story. So while the Gods did exist, we really do not know how much was true and how much was parable.
And take your anti-religion bullshite to the Poli-Board. We don't need that shite around here.

Well we knew God wasn't real in the DC universe when Superman came to Earth.
Just because Christianity is the most mainstream religion doesn't mean it's any more/less likely to be 'the religion' compared to Greek Mythology, Mormon, Judaism, etc..

Speaking of anti-Christian messages in this movie, how about the part where Gal Gadot, a Jewish woman, is boosted up to destroy a church? There's no way that wasn't intentional. When they were talking about marriage on the boat, why did Steve say they go before a judge and not a priest? Its a really a big contrast to all the Superman is literally Jesus imagery in Snyder's movies.

Jesus christ, some of you do realize that Wonder Woman is not real and this was not a film based on a true story, right?
It still needs to make sense.

WTF? What are you talking about? My post was about a MOVIE and a FICTIONAL comic book universe. Martha Kent is not a real person. I can distinguish between churches in a DC universe possibly created by Zeus, and churches in the real universe we actually live in (that I go to most Sundays). Can you?
Also, I don't remember Diana's mom ever saying her history was a children's story. The only lie anyone coppped to was Diana's origin as a child of Zeus - and we got that from Ares.

I think this is a reach. It wasn't Gal Gadot, it was Wonder Woman. Let's keep our real and fictional universes straight everyone. Also, I've seen enough war movies to know the sniper is ALWAYS in the bell tower of a church, right? Where else you gonna put him? Let's not go looking for conspiracies everywhere, people.

For some reason I too remember her saying something about the Zeus story was a children's story, but I may be wrong.

Fantastic movie. I've didn't really care for Man of Steel and I HATED BvS but I loved this and I want to watch it again ASAP.
Also this is easily the best acting job by Chris Pine that I've ever watched. And I'm a big fan of his Jim Kirk.

quote:Diana pleads with her mother after they interrogate Steve, telling her that it must be Ares behind the war. Her mother tells her that it was a children's story. The only children's story that we heard included Zeus creating man and Ares being behind man's corruption. We find out later that her mother lied about her birth, the Godkiller, and that man has free will (Ares just makes it easier for him to kill). So while the Gods do exist, we do not know how much of the children's story is true.

I'm just glad that the rumors of the Amazons having Kryptonian origins were false.

Hippolyta read young Diana the bed time stories about the Gods. When Diana was about to debark off the island with Trevor to fight evil based on the stories, Hippolyta told Diana – “Those were just stories.” Then Diana said, “It doesn’t matter. I have to go and help those people.”
To the Western Front, where the screen writer wants you even if it makes no sense whatsoever. That is when I decided to leave.

Really enjoyed the this movie. Gal Gadot may very well be the hottest woman on the planet.
A couple of things that bothered me.
• The Germans spoke English
• Everything seemed to be right next to each other geographicly. When they first left the Island in a sailboat, it was an overnight trip and they were in Germany. When she charged the machine gun from the trenches it wasn't supposed to be the right direction, but after they won that battle, it seemed like where they were going was right behind that battle area.
Other than that I like it. A lot of people complained about the slow-mo. I liked it. A lot of times shite happens so fast in action scenes it's hard for me to process what happened.

I consider myself a very religious person but my god this is a reach.

Patty about to get paid.
'Wonder Woman' Director Patty Jenkins Not Signed for Sequel
'Wonder Woman' Director Patty Jenkins Not Signed for Sequel

Sources say the studio intends to begin negotiations with Jenkins shortly (although the exact timing is unclear), and the filmmaker and her reps at CAA, Anonymous Content and Jackoway Tyerman will enjoy enormous leverage. Jenkins could not only return to the director's chair on Wonder Woman 2 but also could ink a more expansive deal that would allow her to work with DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns on a script treatment for that movie and possibly others as well.

Damn right it is a reach. I would say that in those small european towns at that time, the tallest building and best sniper vantage point would very likely be the church tower.

Which has always been complete and total bullshite, given the fact that the two creators of Superman were devout Jews. Superman may have been a Moses figure, but at no point EVER was he Jesus to the the actual creators of the character. Damn shame that writers and film makers have attempted to turn him into something he was never intended to be.
You want to be offended by something...there's an actual thing to be offended by.

You're easily offended.
Snyder didn't invent the Superman as Jesus symbolism. Singer referred to Superman as a returning messiah when he was making Superman Returns. The death and resurrection of Superman in BvS and Justice League is straight from the comics. Jesus in Godspell has been wearing the Superman symbol for 50 years.
If you're offended by writers seeing Jesus in Superman then you've been offended for 3/4 of a century.

Nice to see you continue to blather on with your opinion a week later.
You really do need the attention don't you.
