Very few redeeming qualities about this movie save for getting to look at Gadot for over 2 hours.

Nothing to say that hasn't been already hashed out. Lack of a real villain and some awful looking CGI predominantly when she was doing high scale jumps or flying.

People are overreacting just a bit here
The movie wasn't Oscar-worthy, but it was all right. Gadot is beautiful, and the action was ok.
Re the villains- there really wasn't any. It was more a morality tale than a battle between good and evil; the moral being "don't cheat". You really could sympathize with both, up until Barbara makes her second wish.
Despite the title, there really was no reason for this to be "1984", other than maybe to make the Russian threat more frightening.
And really, the best thing you could say about it was this: it was "previously unseen", "anticipated", and we could watch it.
I find myself passing over movies I really like on streaming services, because I've seen them plenty enough for now. This was new.

Does not. Compute. I think you mean Shazam.
I loved Shazam too. But the problem with bringing in Shazam is you also bring in this mystical/magic BS and it makes the stories just waaay over the top and downright insane if not managed right.
I mean, none of this movie made any sense and the magic stuff was just stupid. Pascal’s character was funny without trying to be. How did he go from being a TV oil pitchman to knowing all the details about this relic again? Tell me again, why did Steve Trevor take over another person’s body? Why not just come back out of thin air? The wall in Egypt appeared that way. So did the nukes.
I’ve finally put my finger on why this movie felt like I had seen it before - It is Batman and Robin. Pascal is Mr. Freeze. Cheetah is Poison Ivy. If they are not - they are damn close to it. All are just as bad.

Gadot is absolutely beautiful but wow is she a terrible actress. The movie was a huge letdown for me after really enjoying the first one. It was right to go direct to streaming.

Just finished and I feel sorry for anyone that pays to see this in the theater. I had to force myself to finish and watched at home. It was just very forgettable. No action, which is a killer for a superhero movie.

Midway through the movie, I'm confused about Pedro Pascal's character.
He's a latino who talks like a white guy in real life, but he's playing a white guy who talks like a latino. It's very weird.

I laugh at people who thought that WW was a good movie. That movie sucked at nearly every level and it sounds like this one does, too, but people are no longer quite so hungry for anything to be excited about with DC.

Wasn’t his kid . . . Asian maybe? Was there an adoption story I missed?
And I hate to harp back on this but . . . Did the before-becoming-Cheetah-lady sorta remind you also of Selina Kyle from Batman Returns - before she falls and cats bring her back? She was nice but no one recognizes her until the super rock, then she she is nice but with, what? , the super-ability to walk in heels? The ability to be a sharper dresser?
And within a few hours she has discovered the evil origins of this mystical rock then gets to the White House to stop WW because she doesn’t want people to ignore her again? Is that right? Seriously?

Wow this movie doesn’t live up to expectations, it wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t good. I have no interest to see anymore. Gadot was so hot though. The gold suit was absolutely pointless. The whip flying was dumb.

I liked how the president (no way that was supposed to be Reagan and if it was...holy shite, did they throw a dart at headshots submitted for the part?) wished for all the nukes as a way to make Russia back down but when they fired he was like, oh yeah, we’d probably have done the same.
It’s not like that was some throw-away wish in the story line. It’s the wish that threw the gas on the fire, made Diana revoke Steve, and finally made Max Lord give up his powers.
All because the president’s wish was mmmmm...100 nukes!!!

I'm just trying to figure out why a white dude named Max Lord speaks spanglish.

Sure, this was definitely light-weight. A little backstory on his interest in the stone was in order, it was supposed to be going to him already. Was he just a con running every possible angle, or was he an occultist?
I'll admit I watched it on HBOMax gladly, for the simple reason that I hadn't yet seen it (nor did I hunt down spoilers so I didn't know the plot). It's a pretty sad indictment of this year, that those stipulations were enough to make it worthwhile to me... but that's what I'm dealing with right now.
Heck, it's Christmas, I wanted something fun and light before the Saints game, ... I was entertained sufficiently for that purpose.

trying to figure out how she flew all that time through the air from the White House only to go to her apartment at the Watergate to get her gold suit??

would have been out of place. However, it seems his punishment for bringing the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation was admitting to his kid that he was a loser.
