My children thought the first Wonder Woman was cool, 15-30 minutes into this they all had ejected and started playing among us.

That is pretty damning for a super hero movie IMO.

My two boys loved the first WW, as did i, and every other super hero movie for that matter. I was playing on my phone about 20 minutes into this one. so was my wife. my 7 year old decided to go to sleep at 830, 30 minutes into it, which is a good hour before he had been going to sleep on this christmas break, and my 9 year old fell asleep maybe 15-20 minutes after that.

It was just a pathetic attempt at a movie, in every aspect. It just wasn't fun at all and couldn't hold any of our attentions, and we watch movies all the time. It's rare for all 4 of us to just quit caring about the movie 30 minutes into it.

That character did not look, sound, had no Trump mannerisms, nothing that would ever suggest he was based on Trump.

That's because 2/3 of the movie is Emo Diana and cheesy 80's throwbacks, then 1/3 shitty CGI right at the very end.

Nothing in that quote even makes sense. I have no idea what she was trying to say.

It was a word salad to try to appease both sides. The Right doesn't want Trump used as an evil person (shocker) and the Left needs Trump to be used as an evil person at all times.

It's better than Iron Man 2, but I wouldn't call it "good"

In the comics she does. She snaps his neck. Then she arranges for Batman to have his memory of it erased.

Technically no - Max Lord erases most of mankind's memory of his villainous acts himself after he comes back at the end of Blackest Night. He doesn't erase Diana's though.

The stuff where Batman gets his memory erased is due to another storyline unrelated to this one.

Sue Dibny was raped by Doctor Light a long time ago (discovered after another person inadvertently kills her), and the Justice League decide to rehabilitate Doctor Light using Zatanna's magic (basically turning him incompetent and a good bit more passive - basically a retcon to explain why one who used to be a powerful villain for the JLA was suddenly getting punked by kids). Batman wants Light punished in a different manner (go through the courts and then prison), but Zatanna wipes his mind of those memories. Basically the crux of the Identity Crisis story arc.

Definitely a VERY fricked up idea at DC.

I remember a webcomic that made brutal fun of DC for the idea.

Bigger Than Cheeses did this one.

And his comments:

quote:

For those not in the know, DC (and comics in general) appear to have developed a fascination with rape, dismemberment and abortion. Okay I made the last one up, but it wouldn't surprise you, would it? Anyway, I'm pretty sure I had a funnier punchline when I thought this one through midway through the week but somewhere along the line I used up my weekly allowance of humour on the word 'rapebarian', and the extra bit about limited edition holographic rape foil covers which turned out to be too many WORDS WORDS WORDS to squish into one panel.

He references Identity Crisis for the rape and Infinite Crisis for the dismemberment.

Not to mention that the OMAC Project/Identity Crisis mid-2000s stuff was more of a blip in DC history, tone-wise, and has nothing to do with the inspiration for this incarnation of the character. The first movie reminded me of the mythology-heavy New 52 relaunch by Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang. This second movie is obviously indebted to silver age era stuff. Neither of those versions would snap Lord's neck.

This was just such a terrible movie. I honestly wonder what the people involved in it think when they are watching the scenes. Like at no point was there anything good happening. Do people not speak up??

People whispering to each other in a screening:

"This sucks. Should I say something?"

"Yeah, it does, but I'M not saying anything. If you want to keep your job, you shouldn't either."

"OK... but this definitely sucks."

The Critical Drinker once again nails it. Dude even called it.

Hell, most any of us could call it. Whenever you hear news of massive reshoots you know it's gonna be a bomb.

The salient issue here is they thought the director from WW could also write/handle creative direction or storylines. This movie proves that's a big NO.

Definitely not Zimmer’s best putting either, and when Diana was giving her speech to the world at the end and Beautiful Lie was playing, I was literally waiting for a young Bruce Wayne to renounce his wish to have his parents back. Completely distracted me, and I was letdown by not getting to see that.

Wonder Woman 1984 had one round of reshoots, which is well below the average for Hollywood blockbusters... If the Critical Drinker is calling every movie that's had reshoots a bomb, then he's being a total fukking idiot, as usual.

how did I know you'd be among the first to say something any time the Critical Drinker is mentioned. Every time someone mentions him you're there taking a shot.

Admit it, you wish you were as smart and funny as him. Instead, you replace those two qualities with pretension and condescension.

Now I didn’t really pick up on these supposed SJW messages some are claiming it was full of

i agree

it was actually pretty anti-SJW by kind of making Diana look like she needed a traditional relationship and being sad without her man. that is LITERALLY the opposite of the YAS QUEEN SJW version of female empowerment

the bad guys were also not white males. one was female and one was latino

i mean yeah a white guy tried to improperly approach Kristin Wigg but that's not really SJW stuff. that's just softballs for the hero to save the day

Well, the drinker did make the point that her rejecting the man in her life is what enabled her powers to return, as she had become weakened as a result of wishing her man back into existence.

He also pointed out that the Quantum Leap meat suit that Chris Pine leaps into is just kind of discarded in favor of Pine, and how it kind of makes Diana a monster. They were basically okay with deleting some random guy's existence so their love could continue.

I mean it was much worse than deleting him, she screwed that unconsenting meat suit.

And like I mentioned, to make it worse, what if he was a spectator in his own body? Wtf

She just completely blew off the weirdness of it, "I only see you".

That shite is cringe.

but that shows that the most valuable thing in her life was a man

i seriously don't get why he didn't just appear

i mean with all the other crazy shite that happened with wishes, why was a meat suit necessary?
