It is unreal how far they have fallen. In 2019, they ruled the entire entertainment world and no one came close.

Hell in movies alone that year, that had these blockbusters: Avengers: Endgame, Lion King, Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, Captain Marvel, Star Wars RoS, Maleficent, and Aladdin.

I know several of those sucked but all still made tons of money. I think this was part of their downfall though as they developed an unreal arrogance about their product and became dismissive of their own fan base.

This hostility toward their own fans was only part of it. They also hired people based on diversity quotas instead of actual creative talent. Their insistence on pushing a message over good storytelling also damaged their product.

They also picked fights with the Florida government. Their obsession with the alphabet crowd goes beyond all reason. The recently put a trans guy with a beard as the "hostess" of Disneyland boutique for little girls.

It is probably best if they sell it at this point. Maybe someone can salvage those IPs for future generations.

Bud Light proved that no company is bigger than it's customers. Disney is going to write the rule on it.

No company is too big to fail, when you choose woke marxism over decent people.

WTF how do you lose that much money in streaming? It's 90pct reruns and you cut out all the middleman cable companies.

A confluence of factors gutted Disney in very short order.

The rapid decline of traditional TV and movie theater going.

Their decision is push homosexuality and feminism in everything, ruined their reputation.

Inflation and loss of buying power has made things like a Disney vacation much less affordable and it's an easy thing to skip to save money.

When you think of Disney you think of family
Their movies are barely breaking even
Families don’t want to take their kids to see Disney pushing their agenda on what a family should look like on the big screen

I cannot wait for the SJW outrage when whomever buys Disney/Lucasfilms from Disney and retcons the new trilogy...and the financial success they get for it

When you think about how much money they were making by licensing their IPs through Netflix and Prime, this loss seems exponentially worse.

I made this point to a friend the other day. Talk about an all-time bad business decision.

Also. Consider how many of their “subscriptions” are just freebies from
3rd party deals with Verizon, ATT, etc. and it looks even worse.

Disney was set to be able to ask a king’s ransom when their original deal w/ Netflix would’ve come up for renewal around 2019, but they decided they didn’t like money, and wanted to get even more bloated w/ expenses and all to create their own streaming service.

They had it so good; parks and cruises printing money, movies & tv shows doing well, and as streaming was increasing, they had billions in licensing revenue per year in their future, that would have damn near zero expense to go along with it.

Original content. That's what drives subscribers to a platform. The problem that occurs is you have to make more original content to attract more subs and if you ever stop making one show to pay for another, then you might lose the subs that watched show one just to net zero new subs for show two.

I wish but no way there's someone out there like that.

It would also be difficult to get it made having to go through all the nuthouse unions within Hollywood.

What are you basing this on? 99% of the modern films that this board loves were made with union labor.

I’ve been screaming this for years about streaming. I do not understand why they all want their own platform. The Disneys and peacocks and paramounts of the world have gigantic libraries they can just license out over and over and over. Take your time, make high quality content that was the reason for all your growth in the past, license it out at a premium, avoid the hassle of original content arms race.

I signed up for a free week of one of them other day, immediately hit cancel to avoid the auto charge, it screams “wait don’t go! Here’s another 2 months free!!” - Then after I’ve watched every single thing they have over 2.25 months, they’ll get a whopping $5.99 out of me if I slip up and don’t cancel it first….. what kind of goober arse business strategy is this??? Like after 2 months paramount plus will like crack cocaine to me, too late to quit, they got a lifer. Feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Everyone listed in this thread as a potential buyer pushes the same shite with their products. Amazon made Lord of the Rings bad for Christ sake. Apple does the same shite on their streaming. There isn’t going to be an Elon Musk this time to change Disney.
