The first two episodes are good, but all of a sudden the series jumps off a cliff. I don’t even know what’s going on anymore and not sure if I should even care. What could have been.

WTF?
First, there is already a season thread for the show on the first page, just a couple of posts down. Second, while I am saving the season finale episode to watch for myself, there is undying support for this show. It’s almost universally praised.

Yeah I had to put it on in the background to help me sleep last night.

I think you are in the minority with this opinion if not completely alone.

Btw, I’m not sure I could sleep with Widow’s Bay on the TV in the background, way too creepy.

I’m with you. Seriously don’t understand the hype about this series. It freaking sucks

My wife and I gave up on this also. We could not get past the episode about the party.

2/10 troll attempt
I personally think its one of the most creative and best shows on TV in a while, and the critics agree.
The ratings are going up every week and it just got renewed for S2.
Plenty of other stuff to see if its not your cup of tea, but this is definitely not one of those shows I'd give up on after just a couple of episodes.

I'm still really enjoying the show, but there is some merit to it seeming like they took a turn into a different direction after Patricia's party. We went from discovering things about the island and the island fricking with people's minds HARD to more history, more character development and more story-building.
For those who are more episodic in nature and need that constant fix of crazy shite every episode, the time to flesh out the story can feel monotonous.
It's fine to get lots of questions due to constant craziness going on, but you have to take the time to provide answers as well or else the audience will eventually leave. We learned this with LOST after the writers spent 2 seasons creating all sorts of baffling wildness with no answers, when Season 3 did the same thing fans started to turn away.
Think of it like a club. The DJ doesn't play heavy dance the entire night, that's going to wear the audience out and cause fights as it keeps the audience too pumped for too long. A good DJ will do a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio (3 or 4 dance songs to 1 slow song) to keep the mood upbeat but not burn the crowd out. Balance.
Rest assured, if the writers know their shite (and I believe they do), the answers we're getting now are the lull before the shitstorm of crazy (water funnels and all).

I enjoy watching. Patricia's party was the craziest episode. It got more campy after that episode with the "Michael Myers" type creature chasing Patricia. It was fun though. It took a turn I felt like and went more campy. The 1st 3 episodes were more creepy and scary. After that it switched to more humor and not taking itself to seriously. The whole Richard Warren thing was a bit much with him being alive still.
But it has been fun, creepy, intriguing, and mysterious. I'll say I did prefer the 1st half of the season.

My college aged kids and I love this show. Great mix of horror and comedy. The scene when the lady was going over the genealogy should win an Emmy.
I actually felt the Mayor’s frustration for the first few minutes until I figured out the joke then I just loved it.
The main actor who was in the Americans is doing such a good job. I don’t want this season to end.

I had described the show to my wife and she thought she would not like the show. She then ended up watching the first episode and couldn't stop. Now, every week she is asking, "Is there a new Widow's Bay?".
Everyone loves this show.
