What made me laugh the most from this sequence was the kids were pretty much high as shite too, the dad was just much higher

Two new episodes tonight!
First one is a flashback.

First episode was awesome. Ti West was the director too. This show is great.

Really enjoyed both. The second felt like an homage to Jaws.
Damn Patricia got me when she popped back in the room to grab her purse.
So do we all agree Loftus’ son is the last descendent of Warren? The closeup of the painting at the end of episode 7 hints that his daughter survived.

And something is off with Wyck.. great back to back episodes. “frick you”
Hamish Linklater was a great addition.

OMG, the blend of humor and creepiness is fantastic.
OK now it makes sense why they released two episodes at once.
I recognized Richard Warren as the guy from Midnight Mass.
When they were digging up the coffin, I was thinking of the ghoul from Fallout.
I sensed this as well.
Ah, I was wondering what that was supposed to be telling us. Lots of reddit discussion about this. BTW, they showed five children in the Warren household, but it was documented on the show that he actually had seven children. And while looking into this I see that there was a passenger on the Mayflower named Richard Warren who had seven children.

That flashback was so good. I’m a sucker for anything colonial and creepy. Gave me Witch vibes
I would be fine with more prequel episodes

Yeah I will honestly probably watch those two episodes back to back again. Could be its own standalone movie
I figured I’d enjoy this show when someone first posted the trailer but I wasn’t expecting it to have this great of a story and be this good.

I also like how they drop an episode a week or two like this week
My wife and I were hitting refresh last night. I can’t remember the last time we did that with a show.

the little humor kills me
like when the dude came to kill Warren and Sarah had to point to Warren so he wouldn't stab her
or when Patricia wrote "are you mad at me" to non dead Warren because he wouldn't talk to her

I loved how confident she was when she told Tom she would distract the sheriff. Only to fail spectacularly and have to steal his jeep
She’s probably my favorite character on the show, followed closely by Wyck.

Okay, so I was pretty interested in this show after seeing the trailer a while back. So I'm coming in here to see how it is? I figured I'd let them release a good bit of episodes before I started it.
Are y'all liking it so far? Any other show you'd say are a good comp to this one?

It’s really fricking good. I went in expecting to be entertained from the trailers, but it’s clear the writers/showrunner put a good deal of effort into this show and almost every episode has its own feel/style to it and it’s tried a few things I can’t remember seeing in tv before (like the blackout episode). And then it went and dropped two episodes together this week that work so well together, it’s almost like a stand alone movie. I guess to sum it all up, this show has a lot more depth and substance to it than I anticipated. And a lot more creepier too. The creator knows how to do horror and do it well. The whole bedroom scene with the head down off in the corner is a prime example. Also, having TI West to come in and direct an episode is badass. Highly recommend. If you’re a fan of Weapons and Barbarian, this is right up your alley.

Good to hear. I plan on catching up soon.
Thanks.
Well I hope the episode isn't awesome for 95% of it and then laughably stupid for the last 5% like the movie was.
Thanks.

Nah just in that it’s legitimately creepy in parts but also does a really good job of mixing in humor. Weapons and Barbarian definitely go off the rails in the third act
but I was cracking up a ton. The two episodes this week might go into the annual Halloween watch rotation.

The best comparison I’ve seen is a mix of Parks & Rec and Twin Peaks. I’m loving it and the consensus in this thread is overwhelmingly positive. The sixth and seventh episodes aired last night and we have three more for the season.
Based on the popularity and reviews, I’m not concerned about an early cancellation. If the creators want multiple seasons, no chance Apple doesn’t renew.

I was listening to the watch on the ringer podcast and they said the writers for this show are from Parks and Recreation, Barry and a Japanese guy that’s into classic horror
It’s a great blend but it’s so well done. The humor is not over the top.

Well I wasn’t into Twin Peaks back in the day, and while I do like P&R, it’s vastly overrated on this board IMO.
But I juT finished the first episode of WB and loved it. The vibe is just so fricking weird…laugh out loud yet also subtle funny mixed with legit creepy. Right up my alley.
I suspect I will catch up on the show in fairly short order and participate in thread discussion in the next week or two. The pilot episode of this show reminds me of how I felt with the new HBO show Rooster (which is one of my favorite new shows on TV)…it’s hard to explain why it’s good, but it just is and it resonates with me.
I haven’t watched much on AppleTV but pretty much everything I have watched is either solid, good, or excellent. And this pilot was excellent, so ATV does it again apparently.

She absolutely cracks me up in how awkward she is.
She also really reminds me of Shelley Duvall around the time she did The Shining. I’m sure that’s purposeful given the content of the show.

As soon as he mentioned that when his bloodline dies, the curse will be broken you had to know his bloodline isn’t dead with him.
I have a theory that the island won’t injure/kill off Warren’s blood ancestors (for obvious reasons). My guess for who that could be:
1. Wyck. Especially after he told the story about the other boys in the boat going down by a kraken (the island) but he gets away.
2. Patricia. Why was she the only one the Boogeyman didn’t kill as a teenager?
3. The Mayor’s kid: We know he’s been born within the parameters of the island. Nothing bad has happened to him yet. We know his Mom was born on the island. Just seems like a possibility.
Also worth noting the chamber Warren’s wife found is obviously the chamber we see as the camera panned down in an earlier episode to show the chair before a door. Interested in seeing how that ties in.
