Agreed on all counts. The Cabin in the Woods/American Psycho/Happy Death Day are horror comedy.
WB is absolutely NOT comedy.
Then again, this is the same generation of writers who think they can vomit their trauma porn onto a script, slap a "cOmEdY" label on it because if they don't laugh at it all, they'll sob uncontrollably for days, and then market it to a streamer.

It definitely has comedic elements in each episode. I would label it as a hybrid. I like it though because it is dry, subtle, occassionally in your face like the geneology scene. "dead baby, retarded, retarded".

There were absolutely humorous moments, but I would challenge the "comedy" designation. Part of Amadeus are laugh out loud funny, but I wouldn't call that a comedy, either.

To me, it’s a comedy. Somewhere between a dark comedy like Barry and horror comedy. The Patricia episodes are clearly comedies IMO. So are the mushroom trip and genealogy episodes. The least comedic would be the flashback episode, but even that one had jokes like the confusion from the assassin and “my children? I’ve but just met them.”
It’s getting the comedy designation for Emmy awards, which allows shows like The Bear to be a comedy even though they aren’t funny at all.

We've watched the first couple episodes, and I'm enjoying it but neither of us are into horror/scary stuff. My wife wants to bail on it. I wanted to watch it for the comedy.
I've found it to be more creepy than scary, with the exception of the 8 seconds of murder clown. Does it get much more horror-y than that over the remaining episodes?

I mean...I don't know if I can answer that for you. I don't know where your "line" is. It's not a shock/gore fest. It's creepy, atmospheric horror with some straight up farcical bits.
It's fantastic. Finish the season and if you don't love it, I'll give you 10 TD tokens to spend however you like.

ETA: Well at end of the Flashback to the colonial days had a jump scare part in it.
Even the serious scenes then inject some subtle comedy. When the mayor went to Ruth's and she is going through the photo album telling stories and she drops some outrageous hilarious bombs on the mayor and he just lets go right by him.

I easily see it falling into the comedy genre for the Emmy's but the Emmy's pretty much classify certain shows where they want so they can give the award to who they want.
The Bear was in the comedy genre simply so they could give it awards. It's not a show that would have won best drama because it was never the best drama but it has a boatload of awards because they put it in the comedy genre. It's a good show, but it's not a 24 Emmy's good show.

It's a comedy with elements of horror/drama.
I was thikning about this and thought, that it was a horror, they filmed it as a horror and a few episodes in Rhys was so good in it with the awkward comedy they leaned into it about 3 or 4 eps in.

I was thikning about this and though, that it was a horror, they filmed it as a horror and a few episodes in Rhys was so good in it with the awkward comedy they leaned into it about 3 or 4 eps in.
That would indicate that its initial incarnation was as a comedy.
