There was some pretty clear gay innuendo with the price interacting either some of the other guys but it wasn't terrible.

Honestly my biggest issue was wondering if I was going to have to explain adultery to my 7 year old girls when it was over. Not quite as little kid safe as I thought it was going to be, but I'm nitpicking a little bit.

Also note that the monkey growing wings and chase scenes at the end are a little too horror like for little ones, again, scared the figurative shite out of my little ones. There was at least one legit jump scare.

Honestly though it was very worthwhile for the family. The musical format was really unique in today's mainstream cinema.

I saw it on Broadway earlier this year and forgot that it’s not as PG as I remembered it being, which is honestly the case with a fair amount of popular Broadway shows that don’t have an overtly adult theme.

Hadestown and Color Purple both had some scenes I would not want my hypothetical kid to see even if they’re not the same type of play as an Avenue Q, Spring Awakening, or Rent that you know is inappropriate.

I know that hurts your narrative a little bit, but it’s what she actually said.

Semantics.

It's still unnecessary.

Marketing towards the audience you are speaking to is a good strategy whether she truly believes that or not. Had she been talking to the Daily Wire and said this, I would agree that its unnecessary but trying to play to what will likely be a large part of your audience is a good marketing ploy.

We saw it in 3D so that scene was fun. I enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would.

2. Apparently they sang the songs live and overlaid them onto the movie.

I don't think you know what live means. That is basically dubbing or voice-over singing. I doubt the studio work was done in one take too.

I do know what live means. You should probably doubt yourself

Singing recorded live on set while filming

How they did it

Which race of Ariana you want sitting in your face? Though lately, it seems she’s gone interstellar given the alien look.

It's a good movie. Better than lala land, imo. It should win awards.

Went in with low low expectations. I never paid attention to any Ariana Grande, but she has definitely earned respect and is extremely talented

My family loved the Wicked film. My wife and I have seen the stage show more than once and we thought this was a very well thought out and produced adaptation. Fleshed out the story more.

New respect for Grande. She went above and beyond my original expectations.

Just finished it up a couple of hours ago.

My wife and daughter saw this in Dallas and we all saw it on Broadway about 11 years ago. The soundtrack was a staple in our vehicle’s CD player back then. I’ve been looking forward to this movie for about 8 years. It seems like it has been in the works for that long.

It is long, but it doesn’t drag. Ariana Grande nails the spritey, perky, and optimistic attitude that Kristen Chenowith set up. Both singers were amazing. I wouldn’t be surprised if it cleaned up at the Oscars.

They hit the big numbers just right. I enjoyed it.

Saw it yesterday with the family. Have seen the stage show and really liked it, and I thought this was a great adaptation. Like mentioned in this thread, Ariana Grande brought it and in my opinion stole the show. I'd never paid attention to her before but she did a fantastic job. Afterward I saw a quote where she said "I want to be Glinda, not Ariana Grande playing Glinda" and I thought that's the right attitude for an artist coming in to someone else's world. If only other Hollywood types would have the same humility.

My only slight complaint is the spreading out of "Defying Gravity". I understand why they did it, but I think they spread it just a little too thin.

I like some musicals - Grease and The Wizard of Oz for example - but I just didn't find any of the songs in Wicked to be catchy or special. It was just singing for the sake of singing. I would rate it a 3/5 (6/10) so that's pretty close to your score.

As for Ariana, she's a very pretty girl, but I agree, she needs to put on some weight. On her frame, even 10-15 lbs. would be good. The obviously gay Asian guy (see below) was unnecessary.

Cinematography and costume design - both of which were complete eye candy - were superb.

Grande has always been one of the weirdest looking celebrities. She's explicitly tried to cosplay as about 4 different ethnicities at this point, looking extremely fake as hell at each one.

She looks completely artificial and plastic at this point which is quite an accomplishment considering her actual age.

No idea how anyone can look at the wealth of mega hotties in entertainment and somehow settle on her as one of them. She looks like drugged out over the hill porn star who's had too much plastic surgery. She almost looks like a tranny.

Ariana Grande reminds me A LOT of Audrey Hepburn. Petite and cute/pretty but sometimes looks like she's bulimic.
