It could be the best movie of the decade. I havent quite gone that far back.

The pace of the movie is perfect, and that is helped by great editing from the crew. The cinematography is just as impressive, and while its not Birdman, is fits the film perfectly, and the score hits every nerve at every moment. Also, JK Simmons gives a performance for the ages, and Miles Teller stands toe to toe with him, and he should be getting more praise than he is getting.

Everyone else should be fighting for the number two spot this year, because this movie is the one perfect ten this year.

I agree. It's outstanding. I had even more fun with Gone Girl, but Whiplash is the movie of the year.

Agree. Along with Birdman, both films feature extraordinary acting performances.

Love J.K. and he played the hell out of the role. I just thought the role was overcooked, and the only really likeable character was the girl that got chased off. Not that I didn't enjoy the film, I just wouldn't put it in the last bracket.

I loved Whiplash. I'd put it right behind Boyhood in terms of the movies I've seen.

Just got out of the Robinson Film Center in Shreveport. Whiplash was great.
Loved the final scene and J.K. And Teller were both great. Suprised Teller isn't getting more accolades.

Absolutely loved this movie as well. JK seems like a lock to sweep the supporting actor awards.

And I thought Teller deserved a nom as well.

Really loved this movie. So wonderfully executed

I gotta say, I was expecting to see Miles Teller play a character similar to his character in The Spectactular now, but he really impressed me. He'll def be one to watch in the coming years.

And what can you say about JK Simmons, wow. His characater is a psychopath

100% agree. But what really stood out to me was his quote about the worst thing anybody can ever say to someone is good job. And as a coach I can kind of see his point with that.

agree that it's the best film of the year .... but even more remarkable is that is was shot in 19 days ... And made for a paltry $3M while being co-produced by horror specialist Jason Blum.

Amazing.

Honestly, the best part is that Teller is playing drums. Granted there is some editing magic involved. But that's impressive as hell.

It's in my top three films of '14 [The Imitation Game & Gone Girl are the other two]. I'm hoping JK Simmons wins BSA.
