First of all, DeNiro was not a "Supporting Actor" in "The Godfather II". He was the headliner and had the starring role.
The starring role in Godfather II was Michael Corleone (Al Pacino).

I feel like his characters from Django and from IB were too similar?
I feel like Landa would have had Schultz killed for being a traitor to his race. I don't see them as very similar, apart from both being German and violent

Now that is a great question. Those are all great and memorable performances.

I go with Pesci in "Goodfellas" He nailed the role of Tommy playing him as an out of control mobster, much like the real Tommy DeSimone who that was based on.
He improvised the whole "funny how?" speech in Goodfellas. That's why Ray Liotta looks so surprised. I would put Deniro in second place because he didn't go over the top. Waltz and Ledger round out the list largely because their movies were not as good as Goodfellas and Godfather II.

In all seriousness, I would say it is a tie between all 5. All played great roles in fabulous movies.

Ledger took a decades old existing character and made it his own, setting a new standard. I can’t think of a lot of similar examples.
Ledger based the character on Tom Waits.
Check out some interviews from the 70s. It was a brilliant pull.
It is as classic a pull as using Keith Richards for Captain Jack Sparrow.

I liked Pesci better in Casino.

This was tough, but I gotta go with Waltz. The difficulty of finding an actor that could speak, German, Italian, and French was so hard, that Tarantino almost shelved the character.
Bardem was so good in NCFOM that he's a close second.

In order from best to least best (they are all great)
Walz
Bardem
Ledger
Pesci
What Walz did in Basterds is legendary. I think it's one of the best acting jobs of modern cinema. This doesn't take away from the other 3 performances, but it just emphasizes how phenomenal he was in that movie
