And after reading the thread, I have to say this:

Boondock Saints and Scarface are two movies that many people claim to like because they are afraid to be ostracized by their friends for admitting that they aren't good and may, in fact, suck.

There's a lot of that.

Like Christmas music. I hate most Christmas music, even around the holidays. When I express this, people are like, "Oh my god!! What's wrong with you??!!" My response: "I fricking have taste, bitch. Now gimme some more eggnog, with double the whiskey."

But I can be an a-hole.

Braveheart.

I thought it was ok. Didn't see what all the fuss was about. Thought the Patriot and Gladiator were much much better movies.

Great reviews? It was widely panned upon release and currently sits in the bottom 100 on imdb.

Along the same lines I prefer Casino to Goodfellas, and prefer Departed to both.

I agree on all of these except Lebowski and NCFOM.

NCFOM is one of my favorite movies.

I am a coen bros. Fan but I didn't love big lebowski. Some of the characters and scenes were awesome but I thought the movie dragged on about 20 minutes too long. I liked the first half and was kinda meh on the second half.

I'm with you on this one Broseph.

My 2 are Mulholland Drive and There Will Be Blood.

I'm not a fan of him when he's acting, but I liked Match Point a lot.

Kind of agree with not being "As Big a Fan as Most" on these from page one:

quote:

Apocalypse Now

The original version was better than the one most see now. The movie seemed better t6o me when I was younger.

quote:

i would be a minority in any of the Friday movies

Friday(1st one) is the only watchable one. I do think it is really funny and realistic.

quote:

The Matrix

Really enjoyed it for the action scenes, especially the 'entering the building"' one when it came out. Didn't enjoy either sequel. Don't enjoy watching them now.

quote:

The Assassination of Jesse James

Have never figured out what people like about it.

and I'll add:

Gangs of New York (not a bad movie but too cartoon like/The Warriors like to take serious)

With Scarface it depends on your social circle. In some cases, you could be ostracized for saying that you DO like it. I freely admit I'm not a fan.

As for Boondock Saints, that's not what happened with me at all. I had never heard of it until a few years ago when my girlfriend at the time said I HAD to see it, and I loved it.

I seriously want to fight some people in this thread:

Shitting on Braveheart, Shawshank, Assassination of Jesse James by Robert Ford?? Some of my favorite movies ever. frick y'all!

My entry is probably Raging Bull. I never really enjoyed it too much. And I'm a boxing fanatic obsessed with boxing history who loves Robert De Niro as an actor so I have every reason to love that movie.

As for those saying they prefer Casino to Goodfellas. I prefer Donnie Brasco over both.

from page three:

he best Happy Madison movie is Grandma's Boy. Not Billy Madison, not Waterboy, not Happy Gilmore, its Grandma's Boy and its not close.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Grandma's Boy is great and I can watch it every time it's showing.
