In my mind, it's in the top 10, but not in the top half of the 10. It's a great episode, certainly my favorite in season 5, but this show has so many great episodes it's hard to place them all. One great thing it had going for it on the first viewing was the complete surprise, even book readers didn't see it coming.

It's in my top 5. Had the season not ended with 2 of the best episodes ever, "The Door" would get much more love. It was great on every level.

All of these, but in no order. I'd hate to try and rank them, but TWoW might be my favorite. The first half of that episode might be the best 15 mins or so of TV I've ever seen.

Finding out their motivation would be bigger.
Back to the topic, I always thought people don't give blackwater enough credit since it's not recent enough. I remember watching it the 1st time, it was back and forth, and you didn't know which side was going to win.

For the book readers it was one of the best episodes, in the books Jon Snow arrived after the fact and only saw the aftermath.
As a bonus it introduced the giant Wun-Wun, the wildlings Val & Styr, and the importance of valyrian steel.
