Those are jokes?

Yes, although the first one needs the counter from Finn for the full comedic effect.

Needing to get his droid because it has a custom paint job, not because it contains vital information? Total smart arse joke.

Yep.

Why was I lead to believe Rian Johnson was some top tier writer before this movie. I was told this enough that I believed it myself. I never watched his breaking bad episodes and Looper was okay.

I took that as him explaining what it looked like. Not a joke. But it may have gone over my head.

It went over my head that the seacows were supposed to be funny.

Why is General Hux in command again? He seems like a complete idiot in TLJ.

Snoke Dog said it was because selfish idiots sometimes have great ideas.

Seriously.

I dropped this bomb in the main thread but In episode 9 there’s going to be a scene where Poe calls Hux over an interstellar payphone and uses a sound board of Snoke’s voice to make Hux think The supreme leader is still alive. Man it get’s funny when he gets Hux to go to the space dry cleaners to pick up Snoke’s pimped our gold robe except we all know it’s not there.

Knee-slapping hilarious.

Whoever said that Luke had been turned into a dumpster-diving homeless guy was spot-on.

Also. You have a 30 something year old General. Where are the surviving leadership from the Empire?

I knew [the movie] was going to get darker in some spots just because of what we had to do. It was really important to me to, at the very outset, make a bold statement of, we’re going to have fun here also. Relax, you can laugh with it also, this isn’t just going to be a dirge . . . That was the one thing I was most nervous about . . . You can never know until you put it in front of a big crowd of strangers is if the jokes play or not. So I was very relieved when we got the laughs. Oh, that very first scene. That was really the one that was just, I was holding my girlfriend’s hand very tightly when that came up. Then I relaxed when the audience got it and started rolling with it. It’s so important to me because that sets the tone and the expectation that, oh, O.K., there are going to be laughs in this movie.

He really should of watched this video that was posted on this forum awhile back. Disney needs to get away from letting the Bathos ruin the drama. This video really made me just hammer Marvel films harder.

Exactly. The only reason he would be in that leadership position is if he is the best and brightest tactically. But no, that's proven false in the first 3 minutes with the prank phone call.

JJ set up the new trilogy in the right direction and Rian said frick you Star Wars.

Well yea he had blue milk in ANH. Every hardcore starwars fan knows that. It was a callback.

But the need to throw in alien titties being milked is a fricking clown move.

I liked it too. I laughed and a lot of others in the theater laughed too.

Star Wars always had some humor. It was never like Terminator.

Except not all humor is the same, and the timing of humor can make a huge difference.

It's ridiculous to just say "oh well star wars had humor in some points of the original movies, therefore all humor is acceptable and acceptable in all of star wars".
