the faith people have in GRRM to wrap up the booking a satisfying way when all he’s done so far is kill off major characters and create loose ends is amazing

Who is saying that? I despise the dude and don't think he will even finish WOW before he dies, much less 7. But if Bran was his ending, fine, I do know he'd get there better than the showrunners did. That's not saying much.

He may get there but there is no ending with Bran as king that doesn’t suck

Yea i don't disagree. I hate that that ending. But he would at least arc it in a way that it would make sense. Who are all these people you are amazed at that have so much faith in GRRM?

Sorry. I mixed it up because I got all worked up over the Arya thing. Brought up some old shite.
I mean... I'd rather Jon Snow become the freaking new Night King - true king of the north- and THEN do war with Dany. Basically any scenario I can draw up taking a dump while typing on my phone is better than one they spent years crafting.
Edit again. Imagine if Dany's zombie dragon, that scene. Jon gets taken by the white walkers, becomes king of the white walkers. Gets the zombie ice dragon, then does battle with Dany. That woulda been cool.

Even if JRR Martin original vision was for her to take the mad (queen) route, which we will never know because Martin is a lazy bastard, the sudden transformation of Deanerys from breaker of chains into a petty psychopath was the greatest injustice to fans and TV shows in history. I still get pissed when think about it.

To be fair wights/undead not being able to cross, or enter, running water - which the waters at hardhome would've been - is a big part of wight mythology. It was idiotic, and probably the 2nd worst episode of the series, but the wights being able to dive into the lake north of the wall does track with real world mythology about them.

I don’t have issue with her turning mad and I believe it was GRRM’s intent. The pacing of the devolution was just too absurd

Bran has to be the worst.
If everyone 100% believed he could see the past present and future, I could see them agreeing but my problem is the way Bran was portrayed as disinterested in day to day life and then suddenly he wants to be King.
Hell the previous Raven didn't move for so long he became part of the tree.

My theory on this and what would probably be told/shown in MUCH more detail would be that since she was a Targaryen, the closer she got to the throne, the crazier she becomes.

The dumbest thing was Littlefinger dying the way he did. It would have been a far more appropriate and juicy ending to have Littlefinger turn Sansa evil (or perhaps Sansa turns evil after being raped by Ramsey) and have them join up together, with perhaps Arya realizing she needs to take out her own sister to restore the Kingdom.

Posting this again as I have done if a million of these threads over the years.
The final season had a lot of issues and this suggestion does not switch them all, HOWEVER
If you flip the events and have them attack Kings Landing/ deal with Cersei / Dany goes crazy first.
Then you end the series with them defeating the night king.
The final season ends up a whole lot better, still plenty of issues, but much much better.
