In what world is Jaws ruined?

He didn't ask "name movies with bad unnecessary sequels"

Right. I see a bunch of unpopular sequels listed but none “ruin” the original.

Someone mentioned The Last Jedi ruining Star Wars. And that’s a fair point. But it’s also easy to never rewatch or think about TLJ.

It said what movies were RUINED by unneeded sequels. Not what movie sequels could be considered the GOAT comedy movie

Did the Transformers movies actually have sequels. It seemed more like some sorta negative continuity where each movie happened in it's only thing and maybe 50% of the plotline carried forward.

If THE TWO JAKES didn't ruin CHINATOWN, no crappy sequel can ruin the original. The original is still the original. The only exception might be great horror movies which spawned tons of awful sequels, so we think the original is just as crappy as the multitude of B-movies it spawned, like TREMORS or HELLRAISER.

I am tempted to include The Matrix, but I wouldn't say so given that pretty much nothing was resolved/explained by the end of the first movie, and we all wanted to see Neo kick some arse now that he got his powers.

I would include Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Taken, and John Wick.

Also, the Princess Diaries, Die Hard, and Conan the Barbarian.

On reading the title of the this thread, everybody who saw "Highlander 2: The Quickening" should instantly think of "The Highlander".

I'm hesitant to say this because the trilogy isn't complete yet but thus far, the Star Wars sequel trilogy is the poster child for "unneeded sequels."

The entire premise of the original three films is completely undone by the very state of the galaxy at the start of the films, and every movie has either seen a classic character die in the film or in real life.

Paul Blart Mall Cop. In the original our hero bags the hot chick - a blonde way out of his league. It's the classic romcom trope... then in the sequel they shite all over that accomplishment stating that she didn't stay around long at all and he ends the sequel flirting with a fatty.

I dont think a sequel has ever ruined another movie for me. A good movie is a good movie and I can enjoy it by itself and not think about or worry about the prequel/sequel.

I honestly don't see how it's even possible to have a movie ruined because the sequel sucks. That's kind of odd

Spectre ruined all the other Craig Bond films cause we learn they were all a plot by Blofeld, who was mad at Bond for stupid reasons

By 3 it became a joke and by 4 it was sad. Those films have hurt the integrity of the original with the overall franchise by association. So now when "jaws" is thought of, the purity in the overall remembrance of the masterpiece is tainted, because of this..

If you have a great tattoo..surrounded by 3 horrible ones..the integrity of your arm is fricked forever.

Was released in 1975 and had become a joke by 1985 because of the sequels.

Now I love jaws, but I'm just talking pointlessly smeared because of other films watering or dumbing things down
