I'm going to say that no movies are ruined by sequels because adults should be able to easily ignore the shite. i saw anchorman 2 one time and couldn't tell you one thing about it now, and in no way does it ruin my enjoyment of the first.

Many of the movies in this thread should have never been made once.

Breakin'

Electric Boogaloo just shattered all of the symbolism and meaning of the original.

No it didn't.

BTTF 2 came out around 1990.

Now I love jaws, but I'm just talking pointlessly smeared because of other films watering or dumbing things down

Nobody smears the original Jaws.

You didn't get the BTTF 2 joke at all, did you?

By 3 it became a joke and by 4 it was sad. Those films have hurt the integrity of the original with the overall franchise by association. So now when "jaws" is thought of, the purity in the overall remembrance of the masterpiece is tainted, because of this..

That is not at all true. Jaws is still considered an all time great by many and personally, I haven't thought about Jaws 2 or 3 in years until this thread.

District 9 should have been the sequel to this. You just know some of those sperg lords survived. and there were a lot of them.

If anything is missing from sequels and movies its more personalized story telling. Ok, we just saved the entire planet. Great. Lets make a sequel about saving it better and bigger this time. sigh.

Godfather 2 was great for that reason. That shot of young Vito in the quarantine cell was amazing. Would have been less amazing to have him take over the mafia in all of America.

Predator 1 and 2 were on BBC tonight and I watched both. While I like predator 2, Danny Glover would have been dead at the first encounter he had.

Not that Arnold’s physique amounts to being the best fighter in the world, but he at least had the presence to stand up to the OG predator. I give Adrian Brody credit for being in the shape to appear formidable.

AvP, Requiem, and The predator were crap though.

Sorry. Drunken opinions.
