The Lair Of The White Worm. Brilliant Ken Russel 80's weirdness.

Phantasm was never meant to be a franchise much less have a sequel. The first phantasm movie was a bout mike who was dealing with the death of his parents and his brother Jodie who passed away in a car accident. It his nightmare and the villain the tall man was death personified.

This is why I believe it is better than the more popular and iconic horror franchises. A horror film that delivers a message a bout human mortality is unheard of.

Okay, I found my old post with the huge list:

This is asked often around here. This was one of my responses several years ago with some solid recs and a solid list of threads with recs.

Note: I’ve since seen It Follows and didn’t like it near as much as most people on this board. It was just decent, and pretty overrated IMO.

I'll echo some of the ones mentioned here.

As Above, So Below was surprisingly good to me. Pretty cool concept that I feel like they pulled off really well.

Babadook wasn't too great IMO, but it was decent (I just didn't like the ending).

Cabin in the Woods was great, especially if you like meta with your horror. It's fantastic (both as satire and a legit horror movie).

The Houses October Built was decent, but the ending was sort of weird and confusing.

Agree that the first Paranormal Activity was solid. It would've been one of the best horror movies I had ever seen had the trailer not completely ruined the ending. I was super pissed about that.

I've heard good things about It Follows, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet (almost did a couple nights ago actually).

If you like weird, sort of fricked up ones, Megan is Missing is not too bad (but it's pretty twisted though). May not be straight up horror though.

I thought Black Death was pretty solid. Plus, Sean Bean is in it, and he's awesome.

Zombeavers was mentioned, and while it's obviously stupid as frick, it's a fun watch.

House of the Devil is a good, slow-burn horror/thriller, and a throwback to old school horror movies.

It works because its not some Superman slasher.

It taps into average daily weirdness...in a supernatural mundane way of threat.

Like that old woman who keeps following you in a Wal-Mart and as angry as an old man sending soup back at a Deli.
