I know I've seen listings on here before and I played around with a few different searches and struck out on what I was trying to find.

I want about 20 horror movies that you guys think are worth watching.

Gettin' in the Halloween spirit a lil early!

Thanks for the suggestions in advance!

Eta: the descriptions on horror movies always sound intriguing and lead to such disappointment upon viewing...hahahaha. Why is that?

Here's some that I dig,

Insidious
Session 9
The Exorcist III
The Descent
The Shining
The Omen
When a Stranger Calls
When a Stranger Calls Back

If you don't mind subtitles there's lots of good foreign horror out there,

Audition (Japanese)
Ju-On: The Grudge (Japanese)
Let the Right One In (Swedish)
High Tension (French)

It's hard to suggest movies when I don't know what you've seen, but you can't go wrong with these:

Suspiria
Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue
Eyes Without Face
Don't Look Now
City of the Living Dead
High Tension
Prince of Darkness
Halloween 3
Theater of Blood
Bride of Frankenstein
Messiah of Evil
Tombs of the Blind Dead
The Devil's Backbone
Videodrome
The Brood

I left out the more obvious ones.

Sinister was a good Serial-Killer/Supernatural Horror film. The lawn mower scene was probably one of the only times I have ever truly jumped in a scary movie.

Thanks...I like the mix of old and new. Some I have seen and some I haven't , so I will check these out.

On a related note, I was on a Asian directed horror movie kick a few years ago and WOW! The endings in these movies are the antithesis of American horror. No regard for good prevails over evil and no preoccupation with salvaging some happiness. It's a punch in the gut followed by a kick to the balls. Masters of the macabre.

Saw Frailty mentioned...this was one I really thought was pretty damn good.

Insidious is pretty good. Haven't seen second one. The conjuring was scariest movie I've seen.

Scariest movies for me were Paranormal Activity 1&2...slasher stuff doesn't get to me , but the paranormal does.
I recall seeing this discussed a few times on here, as well.

I find the supernatural/other side /unexplainable/ghost/ demons,/ heaven and hell stuff fascinating and disturbing if portrayed correctly.
The footage on those security cameras had so much tension packed into every scene it was a constant edge of seat experience for me.

I'm the exact same way. Slashers don't scare me. I'm weird to where I believe in paranormal things, not to the extent of movies though. I completely forgot about paranormal activity. The 1st one was especially scary. The 2nd one was very good also. The others suck.
