I’m a sucker for the original Halloween. That thing fricked me up as a kid and it will always be my #1. It was simple and the soundtrack was timeless.

Not the question to ask if you want to know if you've missed something.

Pure horror, probably Halloween or Friday the 13th Part 2. Any horror - definitely the Thing.

If you've missed something -
Autopsy of Jane Doe is a recent favorite of mine, underrated for sure.
Session 8 for an early 2000s solid horror film
Colour Out of Space for weird psycho horror
Dagon for something really under the radar. And on the Cthulu note In the Mouth of Madness if you've never seen it.

Also, Ravenous. Not true horror, but worth a Halloween watch. I also really like The Guest. It's also not a true horror but is a Halloween film.

Jaws, easily.

Alien is probably 2nd. I know it's considered Sci-fi, but it's definitely a horror when compared to its sequels or prequels.

It's actually called Session 9, but you're right in that it's a very underrated psychological horror film. Two scenes stand out....

SPOILERS:

The first is where the young guy who is afraid of the dark is running down the hall and the lights are going out one by one. The second is the last scene where they play the recording of Session 9 and "Simon" is speaking, and it becomes evident that he is real.

Original Poltergeist when I was a kid. frick that shite.

But I still give props to the Blair Witch Project for their internet marketing campaign. Beyond clever. I drove two hours to the closest theater showing it just b/c.

I've always enjoyed Ravenous. Well the 1999 film, and the true stories they are based on.

The Orphanage
The Changeling
The Others

Prefer the paranormal in horror over slasher films.

Two wild cards...The Descent slasher/monster and As Above So Below, the one found footage horror I liked.

TCM is the best and still my favorite.

I can suggest a bunch of good ones, depending on what you're looking for. If your typical horror palate is slasher or that shite from the 00s, then my suggestions may be really weird to you.
