Christmas Story- not as instant, still required viewing.
Their is a reason that TBS shows it back to back, all day Christmas.

Agreed, I don't like just friends.

But just friends' comedy is built on fat jokes, pratfalls, and sarcasm, which I would consider on the opposite end of the spectrum from Love Actually's comedy of melodrama built on an attempt at super-sincerity.

Agree this one was surprisingly good. Seems I’ll need to check out Just Friends soon with the rave reviews on here.

My favorite recent one is The Night Before. Rogen on an acid trip attending midnight mass kills me every time

Christmas Chronicles with Kurt Russel on Netflix are pretty good.

I think they both try to do both, Love Actually has some pretty overtly silly parts (Billy Mack singing naked and really most of the things he does, the couple meeting at the porno and trying to hide it), and Just Friends has some endearing sincere parts.

To me they are similar, Love Actually just relies more on sincerity and story with some overt silliness mixed in where Just Friends relies on silliness with some sincerity and story mixed in.

This is correct. I don't see the comparison between the two beyond they both take place at Christmas and have funny scenes

It didn't look right at the time either. Don't get me wrong, very cool tech for the time but most people thought their faces looked creepy when it first came out.

the uncanny valley. when the CGI is good enough to look like humans, but not good enough to match them perfectly, people get creeped out.

Krampus is really good and on par with the first Gremlins imo as one of the best Christmas horror movies the whole family can enjoy.

The Family Stone
Daddy’s Home 2
Bad Mom’s Christmas

I love the first one because it reminds me of the experience my family put my brother’s fiancée through the first time he brought her home for the holidays. The latter two are movies I enjoyed a lot more than I expected.

These two are not classics. Only if you’re a dumb chick or you’re 5 are those classics.

OK, this one is just pretentious shite. It’s a movie that thinks it’s much smarter than it actually is. At least Love Actually and The Polar Express are genuine.

It is pretentious. That being said, I love the guy from Parks and Rec who plays Brad Stevenson (the guy who "popped the cherry" of Rachael McAdams character) in Family Stone. He has some great reactions and facial expressions to the shite going on at that house

“The Night Before” and “A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas” were both just kinda meh. “Daddy’s Home 2” was surprisingly good, but “Just Friends” is the most recent addition to the Christmas canon. Hollywood hates Christmas movies and has decided the genre is reserved for low-budget rom coms.

“Just Friends” isn’t just a good Christmas movie, it’s not just a good ensemble comedy or a good rom com, it’s just a great anytime movie. I mean, Ryan Reynolds is the protagonist in a movie where he’s often outshined by the hilarious supporting cast and one of my favorite all-time movie villains. It’s been one of my favorites since I first saw it.

It may not be a classic but Friday After Next is an underrated Christmas movie.
