There is a lot of criticism of Hollywood for remaking old movies and generally having a lack of creativity and new ideas. I know I am certainly guilty of it but I am also not a professional writer. What ideas do you have for a movie that have not yet been made? Here are a couple that I think could work:

Make a movie version of the "The Last Battle" based on the book by Cornelius Ryan about the Battle of Berlin. I haven't ever seen a movie dealing with this topic. They made movies out of Cornelius Ryan's other two WW2 books dealing with the Western Front "The Longest Day" and "A Bridge Too Far"

Make a dystopian time travel movie where someone is time travelling and they end up in a post-apocalyptic setting in the future when their time machine malfunctions. The movie would be about them trying to survive while searching for a part needed to get the time machine repaired and travel back to the time from whence they came.

Make a movie version of any number of Harry Turtledove alternative history novels. Guns of the South would be an interesting one to make.

it's harder and harder to get funding for films, much less the ideas you bring forward. Period pieces, big war movies ...... very expensive to make.

my idea is a movie where its all done in one shot and one take. no cuts. it would be a guy sitting in a room staring into a mirror the entire time and making different faces. really it would require a terribly talented actor to pull it off. His face would tell most of the story as randomly you would hear voices talking (in his head). they would be reinacted conversations that really happened in his life telling the story of how he ended up staring into a mirror for 2 hours.

For the life of me, I cannot fathom why Rainbow Six or the Modern Warfare trilogy have not been put onscreen. Rainbow would be awesome. Modern Warfare, if done correctly, would be too.

I've made a few movies myself some better than others.

1) a gym burned down at a local high school, Joe the head of the school news paper asked James to investigate the fire and see if it was arson. It ended up being a plot for the Head of the newspaper to get rid of the sports aspect of the school which he couldn't stand (note not my idea but I was a part of filming it)
2) two bad criminals are on their last leg and very low on money, so in a desperate situation they agree to help someone who is trying to get back at his boss by kidnapping his kid and holding him for ransom. But these two bad criminals fail accidentally killing the kid and never getting the ransom money.
I had a couple others but they sucked. Note: these are supposed to be short movies and are not supposed to be feature length.

I've also made some movies in college but they are all very inside plots that only my friends would understand so I don't think I could explain it.

but they were along the lines of this

zombie apocalypse and to cure these zombies is to make them dance.

the other one was a secrete plot to try and take over the student government at a small college.

I've also made some movies where you just make a lot of random scenes and throw them all together.

Not sure if I have any good feature length ideas.

I think a movie version of the Fallout game series would be interesting as well.

Movies made from video game titles have done pretty well. The Resident Evil series just prints money based on what the movies cost to make. The Hitman movie was solid. The Tomb Raider movies made some serious cash north of 250 million.

There is an Assassin's Creed movie pending in 2015 and a Metal Gear Solid movie planned for 2016.

More of a television series. A small southern town destroyed by whatever natural disaster. Efforts to rebuild and cut through all government red tape and insurance BS are for naught. There are a number of people that grew up in the town, but have since moved away to large cities in an effort to "escape" from said town. These people return and us their private wealth, public fame and overall "pull" to rebuild the town and make it better than before. Subplots include old relationships rekindled, old fights renewed, the geeks vs jocks, etc. Also, the group of people will face issues with the local corrupt government wanting a piece of the action. Would also include decisions on whether some members of the group would move back home or maybe move their business to the town.

What about we do a movie about food trucks in Chicago. Here's the idea: an hamburger food truck, soul food truck, Chinese food truck, Mexican food truck and Indian food truck All wage war over turf. Actors would be for the burger truck Danny mcbride, Jim brewer and a nerdy eighteen year old who is the main character who is in love with the Chinese truck owners daughter. Danny and Jim try to help him get the girl and attempt to teach him how to handle women. Soul food truck guys would be Kevin hart Chris tucker and Monique. Mexican truck guys would be salma Hayek and Alberto de rio. Chinese truck actors would be yun fat chow and Lucy Liu and thier daughter. Indian food truck would be aziz ansari and kal penn.

All trucks sabotage each other's trucks planting drugs on each other. the Indian food truck is owned by the Indian mob and sell drugs out the truck and are contract killers.

Anyway the main conclusion to the movie, all food trucks come together to foil a plot of the Indian truck to kill the mayor, nerdy kid gets the girl and Danny mcbride falls for Monique.

Don't know yet who I would put for the girl and nerdy kid yet.

Starring NPH and Terry Crews.

Seriously, I'd probably pay to see that.

I had an idea where you give two different directors that have different filmmaking styles the same script and have them each make their own movie with their own cast.

Would be interesting to see how different the end products would be.

I want to remake a bunch of horror movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Scream, The Howling, etc., only I'm going to drop the Predator right into the middle of it and have him hunt down and just frick up all of these retarded super-villains that apparently can't die. I want to see if Michael Myers could survive without a spinal cord.

Everytime I watch a horror movie and the bad guy/creature/whatever is such a badass and just massacres everybody like he's the baddest thing to ever walk the planet I just imagine plopping a Predator right in front of them and then watch the carnage unfold.

Part 1: Phantom Menace

A football coach from up north gets a big job offer in the south at a school thats considered a "sleeping giant" for an unheard of amount of money at the time. He starts out stumbling right out the gate but quickly turns things around and ends up becoming the greatest football coach in the country.

Part two:

The greastest coach in the country gets called up into the big leagues after being tempted by greed.

Still working on the rest.

An alternative perspective on Romero’s “Dawn of the Dead”, where the story follows Tom Savini’s character forming the marauders and their quest to stay alive by pillaging towns, fighting humans and zombies alike. They would almost be like pirates, constantly moving, plundering, and struggling to maintain order over the group. Would be interesting to see the “bad guys” side of it.

My original idea is called "The First War" outlines tribal skirmishes between Neanderthal and Modern man. The film set in the forests of modern day France and Germany would focus on the dynamics of burgeoning society attempting to deal with moving into the new harsh woodland environment at the dawn of the ice age. As the humans begin to set up in the new area, incursions slowly begin to happen as the indigenous Neanderthal raid and destroy the humans camps with their superior strength and knowledge of the area. The humans must rise up and pull together in order to defeat the savage Neanderthal. Tagline: At the dawn of time, its survival of the fittest, or, evolution is a fight to the death, or something stupid like that.

My other ideas are two books that need to be movies. "The Alienist" by Caleb Carr is about a doctor at the turn of the century that is enlisted by his friend Theodore Roosevelt, then the Police Commissioner of New York City, to help solve the ritualistic murders of boy prostitutes. But Dr. Kriezler is no ordinary doctor, he is one of the first psychologists and he is on the trail of a new type of murderer, a serial killer. It would be a fantastic period piece that is interspersed with historical fiction that Caleb Carr is known for. I picture Deniro with a beard and long hair ala Angel Heart as Dr. Kriezler.

The second book, is "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson. It is the single best piece of post apocalyptic horror to come out of the 20th century and no one has done it justice. By day, Robert Neville prowls the streets of 1960's Los Angeles looking for supplies and trying to survive. By night, Neville hides in his fortified home praying for the dawn. Every night when the sun goes down, he is tormented by his friends and neighbors who are driven by the uncontrollable thirst. Picture a period piece set in an abandoned suburban LA circa 1962. A single man being slowly driven mad by being so alone but not. If done correctly, it would be some actor's best chance at an Oscar for Best Actor.
