Thought I'd give this show a shot just finished season 1 of it. It started off a little slow, but man, the last 3 episodes were excellent. Definitely ended on a high note. Very well written and well directed. Cilian Murphy and the woman who plays Aunt Polly and Grace are great actors/actresses as well. I was pleased with how it got better throughout the show. Hoping the other seasons are like that.

What yall think of this show?

One of my all time favorite shows. Subtitles are a necessity though

Especially once he gets to season 2, and Alfie pulls up.

Oh I agree. The IRA guy who tried to kill Tommy after his cousin was killed was the worst. Couldn't understand a word he was saying.

Love the show, they're in production of the final season now I'm pretty sure

It is in my current top 5. Unfortunately season 6 will be the last. Good news is that Knight is already talking spin offs.

One of the best shows going right now. First couple seasons are damn near flawless, I was pretty lukewarm on the most recent season. Might just have a similar issue as HOC in later seasons in that it’s way more interesting seeing someone rise up than it is to see them flounder at the top

Finding out Cicilian Murphy is only 5’7 IRL really through me for a loop

The main reason why I started this show.

Had no idea this show was still going on. Didn't know anything about the show before, but figured it just ended a couple years ago but I guess Covid shut it down for a bit.

I had a difficult time getting into it, primarily because the heavy mixing of modern music and production with a period story was too grating.

I liked it, but I realized a little too late that it wasn't going to be high art like a Mad Men. It's really just a fancy action series - which is fine, but I just don't like action much.

If you can watch this show without craving a glass of bourbon and a cigar, you’re stronger than me.

shite, I was worried Murphy would get lung cancer from his role. The scenes where he isn't dragging on a cigarette are few and far between.

Straight from IMDb:

Cillian Murphy had smoked over 3000 cigarettes over the course of filming just by the end of Season 2. His current counts would sum to about 6000 cigarettes on set. However, he has informed reporters that he smokes herbal cigarettes (they don't contain tobacco or nicotine, and hence aren't addictive) and the creator, Steven Knight joked that the herbal ones are so weak that they would "probably count as one of his five-a-day".
