I have three that I watch every year in October (along with your typical Halloween flicks like Trick R Treat):

Something Wicked This Way Comes, Disney's Ichabod and Mr. Toad and Campfire Tales (1997). The latter isn't the greatest movie (not bad either IMHO) but I caught it one year on tv in the fall and continue to make it a staple for my fall viewing.

Roman Polanski's The Fearless Vampire Hunters.

Mostly for laughs as I have no conscious memory of ever being spooked by a movie in any way shape or form.

Odd one, but Dan in Real Life.

Just a nice whimsical fall romcom. We watch it ever September usually.

It’s a Fall movie the way that Love Actually is a Christmas movie.

I usually watch these every October:

The Thing
The Terminator
Cabin in the Woods
Alien
Halloween
Shaun of the Dead
Evil Deads
What We Do In The Shadows

I'm also forced to watch Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown by the wife. I can see the appeal for those that grew up with them, but I didn't really watch them until I was an adult so they don't do it for me.

I try to watch new horror/thriller movies I haven't seen throughout the month, but not much has been catching my eye this year. I spent way too long last night cycling through Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Starz, Cinemax, Hulu, rinse and repeat, before finally settling on Killing of a Sacred Deer. Open to suggestions if anyone has them.

It's funny you talk to people and the movies are always the same ol' shite for the last 30 years....

The Shining
The Omen
Halloween

The only movies I've found that are actually sort of about Halloween is not Halloween but Trick 'r Treat (which should be regarded as the Christmas Story of Halloween movies) and Tales of Halloween.

I noticed that Halloween movies have now been expanded like Christmas movies because there is such a dearth of them out there.

On IMDB E.T. is listed as a Halloween movie (I guess like Die Hard is listed as a Christmas movie.)

the original Halloween is always a tradition. But I'm sure thats with everyone. Hopefully there will be a few decent new horror films come out this month, but not so sure.

Halloween
Trick R Treat

Also, it was incredible to flip on AMC yesterday and see Fright Night on. Couldn’t turn it off. Love this time of year when you get to see old classics like that.
