Outlaw Josey Wales tops my list by a mile then Once Upon a Time in the West. I still like the "Nobody" Westerns. Not quite as serious as some listed but fun to watch.

I'll add Old Henry to the list.

Does Quigley Down Under count as a Western or is it a Southern?

Does Support Your Local Sheriff count?
One of my all time favorite western comedies to this day.

I tended to prefer more modern westerns personally (Tombstone, Unforgiven, etc) but classic Westerns that I have enjoyed are The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly along with Once Upon A Time In The West.

Lonesome Dove is not only my favorite western, but one of my two favorite shows/movies of any genre. (The only thing I'd put equal to it is Band of Brothers).
After that, a lot of the John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies would be in group. Maybe Unforgiven and something like The Sons of Katie Elder if I had to pick a couple.

That, is a really good question. I can argue it several ways. Needs it's own thread.

If so, I'd nominate both The Mandalorian and Hell Or High Water.

Unforgiven
Shane
Man with no name trilogy
The searchers

My number 1A is Lonesome Dove.
All the stuff you guys said…
1B is Dances With Wolves.
I watch it like 3 times a year. Extended version too. That movie is a work of art and Kevin Costner is a national treasure.
